Wibbandune Closed Down!

Recommended Posts

The club has agreed, in principle, (and subject to the leagues discretion), to play some home matches at Cobham FC when the ground is available and fit to play on.

We have spoken to the Surrey FA and the FA today and an expert agronomist is visiting at a cost of £1,000 to our club! (Money we haven't really got but we will sort it).

We have yet to hear from any league officer on this issue :( apart from the secretary who we informed of the situation!

South Park FC have offered to switch our league cup game to Reigate.

We are holding an emergency club meeting on Saturday to discuss all options further.

In a nutshell, if we cannot get the pitch sorted by the spring, there is every chance that the club will disband.

(Another player has left today having already been approached by another club prior to a 7 day approach being sent - this time NOT a CCL club)!!!!

But hey, it never rains does it and football is so great in England eh????

I know the full details are not on here about what exactly has gone wrong yet, but surely the people who carried out the work must have provided some sort of guarantee. Otherwise I could have turned up and charged that amount, but I'd have had no clue what I was doing.

From the sound of it, neither did these workmen either. A pitch always looks good in August.

I see there's an update on the colliers wood site now using Cobhams pitch plus teams taking advantage of this and putting 7 dayers in.

See 2 posts above (exactly the same).

Chris, I can only repeat what I have already said.

I'm sure DFC will assist in any way they can.

I sincerely hope that all Clubs do their best to help Colliers Wood out in this matter, one thing that I have found out about CCL Clubs is that in time of crisis they pull together.Be nice if Club Chairman phoned Tony Hurrel regards fixture swops etc.The other thing regards Players,it would be nice to think, that NO CLUB takes advantage of the position CWU are in.Maybe the League could help by altering certain fixtures, like when RPV and Colliers are at home on the same day.LETS HOPE,that being Christmas, all Clubs show goodwill, and help a VERY DECENT CLUB out in their time of need.As for the £1000 fee, could not Clubs and posters on here make a donation to help them out?

At present, our "home" game v Croydon on 29th December is off but we are looking at possible venues that "may" be available.

One tweet from a div 1 club looks promising.

So far we have had eleven CCL clubs offering to assist in anyway they can which we are all chuffed about.

Smudge, we have had a couple of chairmen on to us already.

However, It is up to US (with the sanction of the league of course) to find alternative venues and I am very hopeful that we will fulfil the 2012/13 season somehow.

We have 11 home league matches to sort out plus one league cup tie. WE CAN DO THIS!!! :406:

I quite agree.

I've ALWAYS enjoyed my visits to Colliers Wood. So friendly and welcoming.

Saturday 22nd December 2012 - 8.07pm

All CCL & Suburban League matches were postponed today.

Our home CCL game v Croydon on Saturday 29th December has been postponed. We had hoped to play this on 2nd January at Cobham FC but this was not convenient for our opponents.

Our League Cup tie v South Park will now take place at Cobham FC on Wednesday 9th January kick off 7.30pm.

Our remaining 2012/13 CCL and Suburban League home games will be played at alternative venues. Several clubs have offered their facilities and we will update the venues as they are arranged.

There will be an update regarding our under 18 youth team soon.

Wibbandune remains closed and an FA agronomist has been sourced to try to ascertain the pitch issues and solutions. We will advise more on this as and when the inspection happens. The cost is approximately £2,000 to the club!

Many thanks to all clubs and individuals for offers of help and financial assistance to our club. It is greatly appreciated and shows just what a warm family the CCL can really be at times of adversity.

Website fully updated.

Next update on Boxing Day.
