I have mentioned before that our marvelous website doesn't show KO times on the fixtures page... I heard a whisper this was midday but Chertsey's website shows 1500hrs... Can someone please confirm?

Cheers

Unfortunately we have 3 separate websites all running at the same time.

This website is the most up to date and is the one you can link from the Evo-stick Southern league website.

http://www.pitchero.com/clubs/chertseytownfc/

and I can also confirm that it is a 12pm ko

With all this rain about and forecast I wonder if the match could be in doubt?

Well, maybe, but the pitch drains really well and is looking in good nick, according to the preview on the OS.

Knowing what I do, and having cancelled several pitch inspections over the years, I'd be confident it'll be on.

Yep fairly late but a good 3 points from a game that never really took off...

At 1-0 we had chances to put the match to bed but failed to connect with the efforts cleanly and a couple of goal line clearances and a block and grab as the ball bounced behind their keeper kept the game alive for the visitors...

Joe was very good in the second half taking on players and knocking some sublime crossfield passes.... A game of fits and starts really Kofi never at his best was "Johnny on the spot" to turn in sub Ed Thomas's low drive that the keeper could only parry....And the ball fell kindly for Bairoh 5 yards out following a corner for our opener...

Another home game Saturday and another win would be nice :jump:

From the match report on the main page, it seems that the opposing keeper (Baker) earned his dough and almost helped Chertsey take some bread (a point) home. However, it seems we are still working hard and earning a crust from potentially difficult games. All we need now is a wholemeal effort on Saturday against Northwood. (That's enough - Editor)

Nice to see a decent attendance, despite my and the tall lad's absence, and another three points in the bag.

Well done, and Happy New Year all.

A special Happy New Year to the Board, Management, and Committee. Thank You and see you soon, maybe Saturday if I can retrieve my Oyster Card from the big fella.

A happy Christmas and new year to all.

A good win yesterday and 3 points in the bag against local rivals Chertsey Town, who looked to be struggling to put a side out, but you can only play what is put in front of you.A headed goal by Bairoh after 5 or so mins put us ahead(well done to you Bairoh)

but Ashford`s attack does look lightweight with out Dan Brown and were poor throughout the 1st half, where is the help and support from the midfield gone? it is needed to boulster the attack.

Kofi was unlucky to pick up a caution towards the end of the 1st half

2nd half started and a poor challenge in Ashford`s penalty area by Bairoh gave Chertsey a penalty and a chance to even the score which they did,up to that point Chertsey never looked like scoring.

Joe Bennet was again causing problems(my man of the match)

Chertsey`s keeper was playing well, untill he spilled the ball right to Kofi`s`feet and Kofi tapped the ball into the net for the winning goal.

(by the way Kofi how lucky were you not to get sent off, in the 2nd half, you committed a foul on a Chertsey defender,

the linesman flagged for the foul, you did not like decision and kicked the ball away then had a rant at the linesman,

in lots of referees eye`s that is a caution, which added to the one from the 1st half would have seen you sent off,the attack is lightweight as it is, it would be powder-puff without you, think on young man and don`t have a temper tantram if a decision go`s against you.)

Kyle Merson what a fantastic save from a header to keep Chertsey out in the 1st half,i hope you can stay longer, perhaps till the end of the season?

Just a suggestion, how about putting a tall defender up front? this would give the attack some much needed height and strengh,to head the ball down for the attackers to run on too and would cause problems for our opponents, what do you think?

Well, we've got options - we could put Sammy or Joe up front and we'd still have enough attacking midfielders or zippy wingbacks to frighten the 'oppo'.

The thing is, we're grinding out the results, and doing really well in the process. I've been told we're playing a certain way at the mo (I won't reveal it here but happy to on the terraces) and the formula's working for now.

I don't know when our new signing up front will be playing for us (was Lee on the bench or is he still injured?) but he's very much in the Dan Brown mould so, if / when Lee makes it, he should slot in (and we'd probably go back to the 'old routine' ) without much problem.

I was wondering the same, where is Scotty as he would be a good addition to the team and once he hits form (been injured for a while) he should hit the back of the net regularly.

From what I saw on his Twitter account some weeks back, Lee injured a hamstring while training just a couple of days after signing for us. No idea what the latest is, I'm afraid - I'll just wait and see what happens. Shame Lee got the injury, as he was really pleased at signing for Ashford and raring to go.

Update, and it's bad news. Just noticed Lee tweeted last night that, if his hamstring doesn't heal by this time next week, he's considering retiring. Might just be words of frustration, but can you take them lightly?

Sorry if this breaks with protocol, but it's on Lee's Twitter account so it's out there for anyone to see.

I thought we bossed the first 20 minutes and then tailed off a bit. Chertsey got into the game had a couple of half chances before halftime while Peitro had a one on one with the keeper who i thought was excellent for chertsey.

The second half was a scrappy affair and we never really got out of second gear. However we had a couple cleared off the line and their keeper making some good blocks kept them in the game.

Perry and Ed gave us some fresh impetus and Perrys through ball lead to Eds shot being saved well by the keeper but Kofi was first to the rebound to finish. I think Kofi was very harshly dealt with by the ref after only a couple of minor fouls. The booking was a joke! Both players went steaming in for the ball in a 50/50 and because the Chertsey player stayed down the foul was by Kofi?

Only the second game i have seen Alex at fullback and i am impressed, also i am liking Jack and Weighty in the middle both win their headers and have good engines. Things are good.

I can see the way we are playing may look frustrating but it is effective and we keep picking up points. I am Very pleased with the effort all these lads are putting in and if we can stay around the play off zone then who knows! We just need to keep the positive vibes going and give the lads our 100% backing.

UP THE ASH TREES see you saturday

I might be in a minority on this, but for me, the result is infinitely more important than the style of play. As a result, I enjoyed this game far more than my last, almost seven weeks previously (or the 5-6 at Chertsey last season, for that matter).

I took great pleasure in the way the team stuck to the task at 1-1 and the workrate showed by all of the players. I'll take a win like that over getting beaten playing tiki-taka every week!

I felt we could have been out of sight long before Chertsey got what looked like a very soft penalty to me, but their keeper was the man of the match by miles and we can't look at the referee when things go wrong. Even if the decision was harsh, the result was still achieved so credit to the team there.

If Northwood is on, I can't go as Lilly is ill, but if the lads graft like they did against Chertsey, they'll be fine!
