Okay, I've been trying to work out who some of these people are who used to contribute to gates of 750, but now don't go...

Lee (Thompson?) and his old man

Mr Viz and Mr Viz's brother

Steve Minney and his crew

Bob Fat

 

These people were top supporters. Why don't they come anymore??

Only goes when the going is good. He told me last year, just before Sudbury, I'm really up for it, I won't miss another match. He went to Stockport and that was that. He turned up for a match earlier this year, then that was that.

 

Lee (Thompson?) and his old man

 

Both now support Rushden and Diamonds after a run in with a former chairman. There was some hate-mob style spitting I believe.

 

They came to the R+D pre-season and spent the entire match gloating.

They came occasionally at the start of the season.

 

Steve Minney and his crew

 

I think brother Mark may have come to a pre-season match or two.

 

Bob Fat

 

Resigned as supporters club chairman amid rumours of missing funds. Hasn't been seen since. I heard, just the other day, that he's getting married.

Bob Fat was never a good supporter, he was always a [***!!***]!

Agreed. But what I meant by that was that he came to every game home and away for a number of seasons.

Hardly a number of seasons, I can only remember one or two and he is the classic example of using the club to make out he is somebody big or important and then vanishing when he's no longer needed (or pinched a stack of cash)

Ah, those were the days. When the Supporters Club didn't even pretend to be ripping the Club off.

 

At least when he left it became a bit more subtle.

Ah yes, those darkest days.

 

Those'd be the ones when we rebuilt the ground, Tom Meredith upset lots of Boston fans with that header, we were top of the league and moaned at the chairman for struggling to pay off Tominey's tax debts.

 

And as for that kit sponsorship draw and the subsequent police enquiry. Well, you've got to be behind a man before you can stab him in the back, eh?

I think I've still got the bills somewhere.

 

During the months of November and December he spent more on his Club mobile than he brought in during his entire employment.

 

I estimate that during those two months alone he made over one thousand personal phone calls or texts.

And of course there was the incident with the lady special constable following his departure from gainful employment that caused some interest from Messrs Paige & Eames. But that's another story.

 

Call me old fashioned if you will but Mr Rivers was not one of Mr Harding's best appointments.
