Scum!!!!!

I was quite perturbed to be told by a fellow supporter of many years' standing that he will no longer be attending any home games due to the fact that at least two of our vendors in the ground seem fit to describe his choice of Premier League club as "They're Scum they are". Whilst this may seem churlish to some i simply raise these points.

1. What bearing does it have on us as a club who someone supports outside of the club?

2. Whilst everyone is of course entitled to their opinion, is it really good customer service to say such things with such vitriol and venom?

3. Does that make the rest of us who don't support their team "SCUM" as well? (They are Tottenham fans, not that it makes any difference).

I'm interested in what other people make of this as i find it quite distasteful and it taints our "family club" image somewhat. Can we really afford to lose fans and their revenue purely through some people being unable to keep their intolerances down to an acceptable level?

You have a point actually, I think it's a daft reason to stop coming personally, particularly as I suspect that I know one of the people involved, who would not normally allow their banter to cross the line.

If it was just a "vendor" i.e. burger van, Indian food, ice cream man etc then this is one thing

But if this is someone selling club merchandise/promotions then that is another issue which should be addressed

Surely the easiest thing for the offended party is to just not buy from that vendor?

Quite. Seems a bit strange not to turn up. If I'd taken offence every time one of our supporters was rude to me I'd have left years ago.

Unfortunately their will be lots of fans walking away for precisely this reason and the reason is it is Abuse, albeit a minor one in my view.

I agree with the comments above that this fella should not walk away as it's life i'm afraid, we have people in society who will say things and not realise how it effects others.

A clear and extreme example is of the tragic death of the King Edward Hospital Nurse. I felt she must have had some psychological weakness to take her life for the reasons we have been made aware of. However, she did'nt deserve to be made the voice on worldwide radio stations and TV as the 'dumb' nurse who fell for the prank even if she was strong enough to rise above the humiliation thrown upon her,

In football however, we have another issue which I think is beginning to be tackled now albeit slowly and that is people (managers, coaches, supporters, footy staff etc etc) must not think they can carry out clear law breaking activities just because they are in a football stadium or Football environment and think they can get away with it, i.e JT+Suarez (only proven guilty by the FA), John Hartson, Joey Barton, Lee Bowyer, Kieran Dyer (assaulting a team-mates) Jon Obi Mickel (need I say More)

I dont know who the chap's involved were but both need to review their actions for goodness and a peace of mind.

Can't we just get around to be Enfield Town and not spurs, manchester united or Arsenal lite?

We are Enfield Town, say, we are Enfield Town!

Won't be able to be at Wealdstone on Saturday as I'll be at Anfield - sorry, that's just the realities of supporting a non-league club. Will be just as keen to know the ETFC score though....

Once went into an Irish bar in Madrid a few days before seeing Liverpool win in the Bernabeu - the barmaid was on the phone home trying to find out the Enfield Town v Waltham Forest result from the day before! She was a Waltham Forest fan (odds on that? - rather large, even in Ilford!) and was astonished to find that I could give her a personal match report having been at the game 24 hours earlier!
