To rate Dougie on the same level as Nathan Elder is a real "low blow".

 

One thing i must say is that my opinon is not Anti Andrew Martin but Pro Andy Douglas, I feel the best is going to come from Dougie and soon, we have to do our best to encourage it.

 

Vinnie and Taffy were prolific last season and i'm sure Taffy will get goals if he comes back in but while George is picking Dougie we MUST get behind him !

As i said i still think Dougie and Vinnie upfront is the best option we have at the moment, Dougie has proven his ability at Hitchin and to me it doesn't just disapear overnight went balls fall for him right he will get goals.

 

Dougie will never score a screamer going past 4 players but Andy is a proven poacher who i'm sure will soon hit top gear.

I'm not doubting Douglas hasn't got ability, I'm just saying we have hardly (for arguments sake, 3 games aside) seen anything of that ability on display. Surely you don't think that Douglas is at the top of the game at the moment? Would you also keep Dougie in the team when Bradley Allen or our leading scorer from last season, Stevie Jones returns to fitness???

 

I've had this argument with people on here before, but some people on here seem to hold Hornchurch and its players in a protective bubble where no one should criticise them or anything. But slating players from the terraces or on forums, or where ever, goes on at all clubs up and down the country and in every corner of the world. Lads, I'm not being patronising or anything, but anyone that knows football and has been regularly to games knows this, it’s a fact of life! Do you think Douglas or whichever player it may be, goes home a cries themselves to sleep over it? Of course not! Dougie would have received harsher criticism from managers sometime during his playing days, I'm sure. I've been to matches where the entire team have been booed off at the end of a game! It happens, it will continue to happen, get over it! OK, this week it’s Douglas, next week he may score the winner against Darlington and be a hero! That’s football!!!

Here Here Lord, agree with you sentiments entirely! The stick that some of the players get at the higher levels of the game is untrue, but at the same time its all part and parcel.

Jonah is the only player i would bring in for him because he is the only one i think is better, Bradley to me is someone who should play behind the strikers not upfront.

 

Exactlly my point football fans are fickle and soon i'm sure Dougie will become the hero. No one i know holds players, manager or officals in a protective bubble, we don't say you abandon the club when you critise so why are we protecting people when we don't.

 

Dougie i'm sure has recieved much harder critism in his career but it is our own (mine and Urchin_fanatic) that the stick you give him is unfair.

We all have our opinions about Dougie, or any player. Obviously, on this occassion yours is different to my opinion, but there we go. All I was saying was, that players from time to time will get the supporters on their backs, if they are being perceived, by a section of the crowd to be under performing. Its a fact of life in football, don't mean those doing it are any less of a fan than those cheering him. Todays villan can easily be tomorrows hero, as Dougie would of course be, if he scores the winner past Darlington! If we all had the same opinions on players, forums such as this and after match talk in the bar would be pretty boring!

Right, time to get my piece in.

 

I think Taff SHOULD DEFINITELY be playing instead of Dougy. At the end of last season Taff and Vinny were playing well together, and Urchino i remember you telling me last season how well you thought they played together. I dont think we should wait to see if he improves, i say bring on Taff now, and give Dougy a run in the reserves, where he will be a great asset, get a few goals, and get the fans trust back again, and then play him in the first team again, only if he is playing better than Taff, Jonah, or Vinny.

I think we all support (as Dougie certainly hasn't been slated during matches exactly the opposite) whoever the boss picks on the day but opinion, as Lord says, is all part of football. Whatever you say (and Iam not yet convinced about Dougie) he puts in a lot of effort and that is why he gets the ovations when he gets subbed.

Considering who has been released over the past few months I am surprised at his inclusion in the team, let alone in the starting line up.

 

As from my previous posts he is easily marked out of a game and often appears lost.

 

But I still shout him on with encouragement as he is an urchin!

No matter what you say about Andy D, he has scored around 8 goals for us this season, it's just unfortunate all bar 2 were disallowed - generally for reasons beyond his control! (Ball went off the pitch, foul by another player, etc).

The reason that his goals were disallowed is because he was caught offside. He seldom gets in the right positions to score goals. For a 'poacher' you would expect him to get few more valid goals.

It is definatley time that someone else gets their chance.

Yeah, it don't matter if his goals were dissalowed, the game has been stopped, anyone could of put it in the net, and it would of been disallowed. Vinny plays well EVERY game, we need some one along side him who will give 110% aswell. i.e. Taffy, Jonah.
