Bad Language from the Dug-outs

Its such a grey area to be honest.

Fair enough to book players for swearing and enforce but if that person got sentt off for swearing. i would think personally that would be abit harsh.

Not a grey area, Laws of the Game say that foul abusive etc language should be a red card, especially if aimed at an official.

The laws say that a player should be sent off if using offensive, insulting or abusive language and/or gestures

The problem is that what one person finds offensive/insulting/abusive, another person might not be offended etc at all

I guess its done like that or they would have to list every swear word in every language in the Laws of the Game.

Indeed, and words do not have to be swear words to be red card offences.

It is often not just what is said, it is how is said and how loud it is.

Going back to the original thread the officials (mainly referee and bench side assistant) have a duty to ensure that language from the technical area is not just one shouted swear word after another. We should understand what is frustration but deal with the bad language if it is overly used.

In my opinion, the clubs themselves have a duty to deal with it if it is their officials that cause a problem week after week

As an an example, a player calling Krooner a "fecking useless fat balding kent" uses no swear words, but the sending off that follows would be because he took offence at the "fat" bit now that he's slimmed 3 stone ;)

Exactly - there is a responsibility for players and management to exercise self-control and restraint in terms of their language used.

In a previous post Mark-Tommo suggested that it is completely the responsibilty of the referee to deal with swearing - in which case, would you be happy with potential multiple cautions and send-offs for your team on the basis of the referee discharging that responsibility?!

In the instance of the CCL final last season, if the alledged swearing coming from the CWU bench was at the level described, surely the 4th official would have acted on it - initially, to deal with himself and, if that was unsuccessful, secondly, to inform the referee for him to deal with it subsequently?

The worst team for it in div 1 has to be Staines Lammas, not sure on the new managers name, but he looks like a bald throwback from a 80s bad porn movie. Intimidating officials on every decision, is this just part and parcel of the non league game. Also the entourage they keep can be just as bad if not worse. How can the league stamp this behaviour out

Smudge

I think the post is more of a rhetorical than a specific one hence the use of the word 'surely'. The same would apply in any game where a 4th official was appointed and not just to a Cup Final. Likewise, as FM states, it is often the bench-side AR who takes the first step to address the management of bad language from the technical area (in accordance with the referee's pre-match instructions) and this would apply in any game with neutral ARs.
