I don't think I have ever heard Salv swear more than a handful of times in the2 seasons that I have helped him, .

After that comment Duncs no one can ever take anything you say on here seriously ever again...............

Referee has it under the Laws of the Game to stamp this out, sadly officials at ALL levels don't want to. Firm believer that if it gets stamped out at the top level then that will trickle down throughout the game.

So should be just get on with it when players get pelted with coins and a beer bottle?

Are some of you saying that it is not possible to show passion without swearing? Give me strength! More the product of a poor education and environment resulting in a total lack of ability in communicating without sounding like Roy Chubby Brown.

I disagree here and think that it should be stopped. This is a bit weird as I have just got in from the Guernsey game vs Erith & Belevedere and I can tell you that the swearing from Erith in today's game was pretty awful and was being discussed by a lot of the Guernsey supporters around me. We get about 1000 fans at our home games and around the pitch and behind one of the goals we have loads of kids watching and enjoying a family day out only to listen to unacceptable foul language. I am sure GFC players swear, I swear and we all slip up from time to time but the outright continual shouting of swear words should be stopped. In Guernseys local leagues the referees basically have a zero tolerance of any swearing, this is often frustrating as it results in red and yellow cards all over the place but we all know where we stand and therefore have to curb the swearing. I understand the committment arguement, I understand it is a mans game and I also understand that if you visit any Premier League match that you will see familys sitting together and one of their party outrageously shouting swear words at the opposition, opposition fans and officials, in fact also at their own team if things are going badly. But just becasue it is allowed at Premier League games, just because kids probably swear more at school than they hear at football does not make it right. IMO it should be stopped if we want football to be a family day out, as it is in Guernsey

I was at Farnborough for the Colliers Wood v Guernsey game on 4th May this year. There were quite a few neutral - not CW or Gsy - supporters there, mostly from Farnboro but some from further afield. I know about two of these ground hoppers because I spoke to them near the end of the game as I was making my way to the exit past the dugouts. The language coming from the CW dugout at peak volume at that moment would have got them arrested in any other situation. I remarked on this to the couple there and they told me it had been like that throughout the second half and wanted to know if I was a CW supporter and if I was I should have a word with somebody. I said I was neutral, they said so were they. Then they remarked that they'd heard no bad language from the Guernsey dugout while they were there but it didn't seem to stop them winning.

i was told off by a lino sat for swearing away at cove so i think alot of refs an assistants do try to kkep it to a minimum!!

as for managers an benches well i think there worse as they can get away with a lot more as far away from the referee. when i was at lammas if im deeply honest we won the league an i didnt really enjoy playing for the manager being berated by him an to have him curse his own players wasnt fun to hear or play for you cant knock his football knowledge an what he done in coco but somtimes it was unbearable if only he could've man managed better lammas would be in prem by now an what with your redders an others who are still there they will tell you its a breath of fresh air now nathan wharf has gone

How come it is often reported that in Rugby there is little if any swearing towards to officals?

Thanks for your honesty BD - of course I am a GFC supporter and I am sure there will be times when our players and officials do slip up or lose it with the emotion of the game but I am proud that they can control themselves and, on the whole, remain focussed on the game when things get heated on the pitch. Off the pitch Vance, Fallaize and all of the bench can get loud and disagree with an officials decision but I have never, ever heard anyone, even substitutes, swear out loud from the bench. Vance and Fallaize would not tolerate it

I am at every Wood game and I would say our bench is amongst the quietest in this league.

I am sure most, if not all clubs in this league would concur?

I cannot think of any reason why this would have been different at the cup final.

Perhaps you heard an isolated incident borne of frustration at the two extra time goals we conceded.

I wont deny that I swore at the ref following a poor desision (IMHO) but I apologised to everyone around me immediately. I was not in the dugout btw.

I could name three clubs this season whose bench language was appalling but what is the point.

Good to see the FA's "Respect" campaign is so successful. I don't think anyone really objects when something is said that is in the heat of the moment but the vein pumping, eye bulging rants are totally unnecessary. Is this how they behave at home or at work? I suspect not. So how come when 3pm on a Saturday comes so many people turn into, as Rother referred to earlier, a tourette's convention?

Its such a grey area to be honest.

Fair enough to book players for swearing and enforce but if that person got sentt off for swearing. i would think personally that would be abit harsh.

It all depends on how its percieved. I've been booked because i swore out of frustration but then it poses another problem of having to listening to the rest of the players and making sure everyone recieves the same punishment. It such a hard situation to enforce.

So now i ask this "if a player calls you a C*** and noone hears but the referee, does he book him?"

If this rule is enforced so that the crowd dont pick up on the bad language then surely he shouldnt???
