vs Chertsey

You lot are having one on here. Rose tinted glasses on all of ya. Wooze should have gone 1st half. Don't like seeing a player sent off for what he did but the ref marched over to book him then realised it would have to be a 2nd yellow so changed his mind.Eddie smith lunged in 2 footed late on which was a certain yellow, if not red. The ref was awful as we all admit so no surprise when he gave a pen on the edge of the box. Lino gave it but not well positioned enough to make the call/guess. Not seem the video yet but seemed like he got the ball 1st. I will stand corrected once seen the footage. Our £30-40 players gave your £120-200 players a good run for their money. They deserved a draw but will take heart from the eventual league winners...., or will the arseholes go again??? Who knows!

I'd love to see who our £120-£200 players are - I think people have some wildly inaccurate views about our budget. As for the tackle it was shocking and indefensible. I've seen two red cards this season (one Slough, one Mansfield) for challenges that weren't remotely as bad or dangerous.

Thanks for the highlights, TRS, really great coverage.

Talking of rose tinted glasses, have a look at the Chertsey twitter page, there is no mention of the shocking tackle that lead to the penalty or any of the other things that the Chertsey players got up to, only moaning about our players. It works both ways.

Having looked at the foul again a number of times I still can't be certain whether it was inside or outside the area. But Blount clearly gets none of the ball and goes through the man two footed. It is the clearest red you will see. The referee's assertion that he couldn't remember who did it is either a lie because Blount apologises to Fraser and checks he is ok on two occasions and is also spoken to by the ref or shows his utter incompetence.

No-one on here is saying the ref was biased or favouring one side. He was just rubbish. The Wooz incident was a prime example. Firstly, I did think he was pushed over and it should have been a free kick to Slough but having given it the other way for the dive there is no doubt he should technically have been shown a second yellow and been sent off. I said that openly at the time. Two terrible decisions.

I actually think the ref and the pitch ruined the game.

Don't insult me with claims that your players are not on very good money. Ollie Burgess even on the bench won't be collecting less than £100. And it's no secret that Smith is collecting £200 a week plus a healthy goal bonus. Can't comment on the rest but Burgess on the bench for a oner and smith high profile on 200....the rest must be in anything in between meaning your budget is around £1800 - 2500, 4x our budget yet u scraped a win.

As for the tackle...... Yes looks bad, and yes could easily have been a red from the angle of the camera. Our No4 is not the type of player to tackle someone to cause serious injury. I've known him a long time and he is not the type. Clumsy at times and yes it was a tad reckless. It's not like we were losing and he lost his temper. As for the pen decision... more outside or on the line for me. His acrobatics (joke) took him into the box making it look like a pen. I wish you luck for the rest of the season but as last season proved, don't count your chickens. Results have shown already that the league title is wide open and many good teams can win it. We on the other hand will just continue to hold our own near the bottom.

For the benefit of Arsene Wenger, here is the challenge

Rose tinted my arse. Shocking challenge.

I would say at least on the line and one of the worst two footed leg breakers I've seen.

If the Ref said he didn't give a red because he wasn't sure who done it, well the video is proof he was not only incompetent but a liar. The number 4 stood by Fraser after he had done the cowardly lunge, the Ref then runs up to the incident with the 4 still in the same position by Fraser and then has a word with the 4.

Still waiting for a public appology and condemnation of the Chertsey number 4 as promised from Johnnojudo but I won't hold my breath.

Never said I would apologise but yes it looks bad. I wasn't far from the incident and at the time of the tackle, it didn't seem that bad. The camera is proof that it was a lunge, dangerous and reckless, but I WILL publicly defend my No4 and say that it would not have been done in malice or to cause injury. I have come across and played along side a few players who wouldn't give a sh1t if they broke someone's leg, but the No4 is not like that. I'm glad the lad got up without any injury at all.

I'm very interested as to how you have such an in depth knowledge of the Slough Town Football Club playing budget. Your assertion that "it's no secret" is interesting as I'm not aware of any Slough fans who know what all of our players earn. Maybe in Chertsey the playing budget of other teams is widely circulated but in Slough it isn't.

If plucking wildly inflated numbers out of the air is how Chertsey motivates their players to perform then so be it. We'll just be happy with the three points, although using the same inflationary methods you seem to be adopting perhaps that should be 12 points!

The playing budget is an irrelevant point. We attract bigger crowds, therefore we should logically have a bigger budget.

I don't think anyone is saying that the Chertsey number 4 is a terrible person and that he intentionally tried to injure Fraser, but it was a bad challenge and a red card should have been given. Any player could have done it.

Players talk, managers talk, committee members talk, chairman talk. That's how we know what clubs budgets are and what players are on. I think we should leave the budget and wages discussion there. It was unprofessional of me to name anyone.

It may well be that David "Jonnojudo" Johnston is trying to deflect the presure away from his managerial performance.

Currently 20th in the league with only 9 points from 18 games and a -25 goal dif.

Getting in his excuses by blaming it on the small budget he has to work with, how much a week are you on David? - you dont mind mouthing off about other players/managers private information.

Is your chairman thinking about writing to santa for a new manager for christmas?

Shame the Chertsey manager felt the need to come on here with his sour grapes. I thought his team gave us a real test and I was delighted with the 3 points because it could have easily gone the other way. He should be giving his players a bit of praise for a gutsy performance rather than whinging about our budget. I don't know what we pay our players and I'm sure we have one of the best budget in the league, I don't care. We have ambitions of getting out of this league and as St Neots, Arsley and Truro have shown before us you need a few quid to do that. The great cup run we've had will take care of much of the finance. It wasn't so long ago we couldn't pay our players, had to field outfield players in goal and 16 year olds so I don't have much sympathy for poor old Chertsey's current plight. Get over yourself mate.

Onto the penalty incident and on reviewing it, does Sean Fraser jump into that challenge two footed as well? Should it have been a double red?
