vs Chertsey

Went ahead through Danny Burnell who slotted home neatly from twenty yards as a weak clearance fell into his path with the keeper out of position after Chertsey started brightly. They deservedly equalised when an excellent free kick from deep was nodded home.

Second half we were on top but it looked like it might be one of those days until 4 went through Fraser with a two footed lunge. Burnell tucked away the penalty calmly after a long delay when inexplicably no card was shown.

Smith wrapped it up with a nice lob over the stranded keeper who had just told us that we had "cheated" our way to victory.

Difficult game on a terrible pitch.

The ref might actually have been quite good but unfortunately he was refereeing a game that was thirty yards behind the one being played.

Glad to have returned home with 3 points and no serious injuries. I'd love to know what has gone through the mind of the officials in not producing a card for the Chertsey number 4 for a horrific challenge that gave us the penalty. I'd have been gob-smacked had it only been yellow. No card at all was inexplicable.

Referee was very poor. No.4 for Chertsey should have been sent off for his 2 footed tackle. Not that I like seeing players sent off. Lots of decisions wrong for both teams.

A lot of the home fans were very churlish. Not heard some of the stuff like that for a long time and I moved because of it.

Thought Slough did well to keep their heads but players can avoid needless bookings by arguing with the ref. It never works! I have yet to see a ref change his mind because of a player arguing. It just antognises the ref. Need to keep focussed on each game.

MOM Burnell today.

A very tough match where we had to work hard to get the result, but the important thing is the win came in the end.

Also not sure what game the ref was watching especially with the two incidents that should be a red card. Other than that we made the best of the poor pitch conditions to get the win and the players deserve credit for that, as does Bateman for spotting the problem and making the change to 4-4-2 in the second half.

Got to make sure we make the most of our upcoming games, some of them will take some digging in.

COYR!

I 'spoke' to the linesman and 'asked' him how a two footed tackle was not even a yellow and he told me it wasn't a two footed tackle!!! Quite disgraceful. I thought this weeks horrible trip was Tuesday but today was bad enough. The keeper was a prize prat who couldn't take banter at all and told us just before we scored the third that we could only win by cheating. As Martin said on the way out normally we give a keeper banter, he gives it back and then we wish him all the best at the end. I much prefer martins idea for this keeper which I won't repeat on here for fear of his law career being over!!! ;) anyway 3 valuable points, no obvious injuries (somehow) and now onto Hayes where we always win :s!!! COYR!!!

Never ceases to amaze how two sides can see the same game so differently. The challenge on Fraser looked horrendous and a certain red. Mansfield's skipper John Dempster was sent off for a less serious tackle. For neither the referee or linesman to be able to identify the culprit is beyond belief.

The game always had an edge to it and I thought a red card was a certainty - I had a horrible feeling it might be Woozley, especially after the referee decided he'd dived in the first half but didn't produce a second yellow for it - another odd decision.

I've actually always thought of Chertsey as a friendly club. Their skipper Tommy McGarry (ruled out through illness today) is very complementary about us on Twitter, and Chris Payne (ex Rebels midfielder) is on their coaching staff.

All in all it's a great win, never mind the fact they've only won two league games with one of them being Woodford. A win's a win, especially on that pitch. Time was ticking on at the end, but I always felt we had something extra in the tank and didn't think Chertsey had it in them to win the game.

Alex Brown came off with an ankle injury (severity unknown) and hopefully the rest came out unscathed!

Thanks ever so much for those highlights TRS - usually it's either me or Gary who do the filming but neither of us were at the game today!

That was definitely a two-footed lunge! The ref gave the penalty so he's acknowledged that a foul had been committed - but how he didn't brandish a card is beyond me!

So from reviewing the footage (thanks TRS) what exactly do Chertsey think was 'controversial' about the penalty? Clear foul. At least on the edge of the area if not slightly inside. And the ref clearly could identify the Chertsey No.4 because he is talking to him before the pen is finally taken. Red card challenge every day of the week.

The ref was totally out of his depth, and got many decisions wrong. Very poor by the league's standards, which arn't the highest to begin with.

Poor first half, with our defence really struggling. Second half much better

Beaconsfield and Burnham both lost, and with Daventry drawing against Guildford, we edge up a place.

You lot are having one on here. Rose tinted glasses on all of ya. Wooze should have gone 1st half. Don't like seeing a player sent off for what he did but the ref marched over to book him then realised it would have to be a 2nd yellow so changed his mind.Eddie smith lunged in 2 footed late on which was a certain yellow, if not red. The ref was awful as we all admit so no surprise when he gave a pen on the edge of the box. Lino gave it but not well positioned enough to make the call/guess. Not seem the video yet but seemed like he got the ball 1st. I will stand corrected once seen the footage. Our £30-40 players gave your £120-200 players a good run for their money. They deserved a draw but will take heart from the eventual league winners...., or will the arseholes go again??? Who knows!
