AnfieldTowner
Another entertaining game at Donkey Lane as we slipped to yet another 3-2 defeat, this time to Hayes & Yeading from Blue Square South in the Middlesex Senior Cup. Disappointing to concede another 3 goals - with largely different defenders and goalkeeper this time! - but there were a lot of positives to come out of the game - I'm beginning to sound like Brendan Rodgers! Steve gave match time to most of the squad players and it was good to see Lee Allen and Neil Johnston working hard in central midfield, with Jey Siva, Mitch Hahn and Dave Kendall all getting a much needed run out. Young James Chalk put in a good performance in goal. On a very cold night, Bryan Hammatt's penalty had put us 1 up before Hayes & Yeading fought their way back to be 2-1 up at the break. An early second half goal from Adam Wallace was well deserved but we couldn't hold on again, despite chasing the game late on. We were unlucky not to gain a second penalty (and potentially a red card) when the H & Y goalkeeper hauled down Adam Wallace in the penalty area in the second half, whilst Liam Hope (who replaced the injured Bryan) must still be wondering how he didn't score when he came close 3 times in one action late on (the keeper denying him with 2 great saves before the second rebound was clipped over the bar). Thurrock at home on Saturday - 3 points needed.....
andyetfc
The team defended as well as could be expected against a Hayes and Yeading forward line comprising of very fast sprinters who ran around for 90 minutes.
AnfieldTowner
Sorry to see from the Twitter feed that Joe O'Brien was taken to hospital last night with a suspected broken wrist. Anybody have any updates on this? That's one way to get out of playing right back!
Father Jack
Three weeks minimum apparently. There isn't really an obvious replacement either.
Southport - TOWNER
GOBSMACKED that we let 3 goals in! If it wasn't so sad it would be funny What odds on Thurrock scoring 3?
Enfield United
ST-Was you at the game? We played very very well and should/could have won. A fair reflection would be a 7-6 win against a BSS side. Who knows what Saturday will bring, but it would be boring if we knew in advance. Bottom line is our team is able and capable, if we get the run of the ball we could be climbing the table over the next 3-4 weeks at worse we'll win some lose some
StoneCold
What odds on Thurrock scoring 3? Probably the same odds as you or OT moaning about it again if we do!!
