Blues 1 Dover 2

It's interesting how people see the game, personally i thought we took a hiding 1st half and was lucky to go in only 1-0 down 2nd half we matched Dover and competed much better in saying that i think Dover are the best team i've seen this year and we still nearly nicked a draw even though it would have been daylight robbery.

I'm still not over worried yet were still mid table going into the xmas period which in my book is a good effort for a first season in this league.

Got a huge game against Bath City on Saturday and 3 points would be most welcome.

I am sure both Blues supporters are old enough and ugly enough to take the slings and arrows of each others opinions and arguments without any interference from another clubs supporters who put more value on forum traffic than bodies through the turnstiles.

I can only deduct from the interest from your area of Romford in our club on this forum that you either 1. Have nothing better to do or 2. Secretly wish to change your allegiance and support us.

Whatever.... I predict a post of garbage from Eastside Bumchin to follow....

....yawn....

Evidence from NL suggests otherwise - Never mind.

Must admit I do post too much on here - You'll be pleased to hear I won't in the future

Good luck with the rest of the season.

It's disappointing that we cannot have discussion and banter on this Forum, without certain customers getting bitchy/nasty.

Football is a game of opinions and there will never be agreement - however if you pay 12 quid to watch a game, you have a right to express a view. Its difficult to measure effort and commitment but for whatever reason, some players were not firing on all cylinders yesterday. Dover should have had the game wrapped up by halftime, but once again Swainey gave us a lifeline that we could not capitalise on.

We only have two BSBS teams on Non League UK, and I am quite happy for the likes of Eastside and Cuppatea to join in. We are all big boys and can give as good as we get - please don't take it so seriously when the Country is going down the pan.

Here endeth the lesson - praise be to our leader Fu Man Chu

Point taken BP but I get a little defensive about the club when we have a team that has given us so much to get questioned about their commitment from a Jonny come lately who clearly knows nothing about commitment himself. I would imagine to be accused of not trying is the worst insult you could give a player and that after we lost narrowly to a team who are among the favourites to win the league. Then getting chastised about it by a couple of supporters of another club. EU and COT worry about your own team in short mind your own.

Point taken NL - I think whatever is said is borne out of a a desire to see the Team do well - last season will live in the memory for ever and no-one seriously believes we can do the same this year. We need to welcome new supporters, even if we do not agree with some of the views they express.

Trouble is, watching Swainey (Captain, Leader, Legend ), it is not easy for everyone to visibly demonstrate his level of commitment. Fact is that yesterday we were up against a better team and some heads did drop.

However the incident and injury came about, the question that should be asked was why did the linesman on the main stand side not call the referee's attention that there was an obvious serious injury on the pitch and stop the game...? There were enough people pointing it out to him but instead he ignored the situation and allowed the game to flow until the ball was out of play... Dover were pressing and could've scored...perhaps he felt that was more important than an injured players welfare...

On another note, I am enjoying this season. The football is of a much higher standard but the officials, if a comparison were to be made appear to be more cynical rather than clumsy and inept

As for our performances...I am not overlly concerned with how we are standing at the moment. I think we'll obtain mid table (which was all ways the target), with a couple of surprises as well as disapointments along the way. We all have to accept that is how it will be for a period of time...we are swimming in a bigger pond now and are the new boys. We should just get on with supporting the club, enjoy our football and savour the visits to pastures new....Which I am sure most of us are doing. Lets face it, the alternative is a visit to Harrow (that'll put a chill in someones day, thinking of that).

We're 13th, it's December and we're not even half way through the league...it's a long way to go and the path to the end of the season is full opportunities...

It's not often this happens, But i actually agree with everything in GazzaBTFC's post.

I also enjoy reading the comment's from the Urchin fateful and our newest member James1981 (Welcome aboard) It's great that the forum is alive and kicking again. If Cup of tea stop's posting on our forum then their input will be our loss.

I know we all have different views on yesterdays game but it was great to see the passion of the supporters and the manager when one of our players was TAKEN OUT yesterday.

Proud to support a team/club like BTFC

We've drawn the second halves of both Welling away and Dover at home. Two sides whose aim at the start of the season would be to say cheerio at the end of it. Ours is simply to stay here. Small comfort but not time to start hitting the panic button. We've been beaten by better sides on the day, not thru lack of effort. Personally I think we need a box-to-box central midfielder of the Paul Semkula mould but that's easy to say and alot more difficult to go out, find one and pay their wages!

I don't get the point you are making about Swainey ?

I cannot see how a team whose heads have dropped can pull a goal back and go so hard for an equaliser.

I thought we had a bit of an 'edge' to our game saturday, which has, in my opinion, been missing lately. Also I agree with NL, our lads worked their socks off in the second half, Dover may have bossed the first half, but it was far from comfortable for them in the second.

Under Craig Edwards we have, and contiue to progress. I can confidently say we are already a better side than when we won the Ryman, This isn't a season for puling up trees, and Gazza is spot on about enjoying, and establising ourselves.

Swainey is a true leader on the pitch and you can visibly see his commitment in the way he runs back to the centre circle after an attacking move.

If you read my post I did not say " a team whose heads have dropped " - I said " some heads" . The substitutions injected fresh energy and when Swainey scored, it jolly well should have encouraged them to "go hard for an equaliser" in the closing minutes.

I agree that the substitutes injected fresh energy but that would be expected playing on such a heavy pitch. Swaine racing back is a sight to behold but he is not vocal enough on the pitch to be a true leader IMO.

The three players substituted didn't appear to 'drop their heads' so I would assume they were still on the pitch in your eyes. I would have thought that getting back into the game with any number of dropped heads would be very difficult against a team as powerful as Dover.

I think we'll have to agree to disagree BP

NL - It is interesting to hear different perspectives on the game; how incidents are viewed differently; and who are the star men. I am often surprised at the variance in opinions. We will have to agree to disagree because if we debate this further, we will have to name names and I don't intend to do that. Suffice to say in any given game on any given day, some players will perform better than others. I am sure the manager will monitor this and make changes when he sees fit.
