Blues 1 Dover 2

Unfortunately nowhere near as close as the score suggests. We were dire in thr first half, only close to goal once with a Jay May header which skimmed the top of the bar. How we only went in 1 nil down is a mystery, if Dover had taken their chances we could have been 4 or 5 down.

After Dover went 2 nil up courtesy of the villain of the piece Billy Bricknell who managed to be both a thug and a cheat in the second half, we managed to gain some respectability with a typical Swaine goal. Why he started on the bench is a mystery to me.

The officials were diabolical, petty enough to pick up a few monor infringements which broke the game up but then missing the near headlock by Bricknell on Glenn Poole that ended up with him being carted off to hospital with what looks like a serious neck injury. Let's hope he is ok and lets hope the management put in a negative match report about the clown in the middle.

On this showing we look to be in a bit of trouble. I thought a few of the players looked a bit uninterested today and not up to our normal spirited performance. And can we please bring back Greg Oates, we are desperate for a decent right back.

Our thoughts must be with Glenn - hope it's not too serious. I'll leave others to decide whether it was intentional or accidental BUT please explain to me how the lino could spot a technical area infringement from the other side of the pitch and not spot this one.

No doubt about it Dover deserved their win and their keeper had an easy afternoon. Things are not happening for Chelsea but they only have one misfiring striker available. In contrast we have options to change things but leave it too late. I thought Benjamin, at least put himself about a bit when he came on.

An enjoyable game. Dover better in the first half and probably worth more than a one goal lead but we bossed the second half and were a little unfortunate not to get a late equaliser. We looked more solid at the back and it took an excellent goal to beat us. Luke and Edwards were the stand out performers for me and I agree Benjamin looks worth a start. We have had a tough run of games and I hope the confidence is still there.

I thought Dover were a better team of players and were far more organised. Billericay were generally wasteful and didn't pose a goal threat for the vast majority of the game.

It's funny how people see a game differently. I can remember Billericay being camped in their own half for a lot of the second half of the game whilst Dover kept possession. I can also remember a few people commenting on what a poor game Junior had.

2-1 flattered Billericay greatly, 2-0 would have flattered them. A lot of the Blues players need to ask themselves if they gave 100% for the team yesterday, most would be lucky if they'd managed 60%.

Joe Benjamin looked a good prospect for the short time he got on the pitch. With the results going the way they are at the moment it wouldn't hurt to mix things up a bit and show that no one's place in the side is guaranteed.

Being realistic, this is the clubs first season at this level so it was never going to be easy. This is a good level, one division higher can be considered professional, with teams dropping down and teams at this level wanting to go up and compete this was always going to be a difficult season. Town are sitting in mid-table, 4 points from the bottom three and 5 points from the play-offs. There's a long way to go yet...

However the incident and injury came about, the question that should be asked was why did the linesman on the main stand side not call the referee's attention that there was an obvious serious injury on the pitch and stop the game...? There were enough people pointing it out to him but instead he ignored the situation and allowed the game to flow until the ball was out of play... Dover were pressing and could've scored...perhaps he felt that was more important than an injured players welfare...

On another note, I am enjoying this season. The football is of a much higher standard but the officials, if a comparison were to be made appear to be more cynical rather than clumsy and inept

As for our performances...I am not overlly concerned with how we are standing at the moment. I think we'll obtain mid table (which was all ways the target), with a couple of surprises as well as disapointments along the way. We all have to accept that is how it will be for a period of time...we are swimming in a bigger pond now and are the new boys. We should just get on with supporting the club, enjoy our football and savour the visits to pastures new....Which I am sure most of us are doing. Lets face it, the alternative is a visit to Harrow (that'll put a chill in someones day, thinking of that).

We're 13th, it's December and we're not even half way through the league...it's a long way to go and the path to the end of the season is full opportunities...

A superb post!

I did shout at the linesman "you didn't see anything then lino?!" and he ignored ot like he ignored everyone else.

Poor performance but think the worrying is fairly premature. We were always going to hit the buffers at some stage of the season, just like AFC HX have experienced. Thought Dover were well worth their win. The officials ruined the game with the stop-start approach they adopted for the game. Hope Glenn is okay and I wish him a speedy recovery. If I had to choose a MOTM for us then I would say Anderson or McDonald. The subs improved our play but once again imho they came too late in the game.

On a sour note however, some of the derogatory chants regarding a certain Mr Jimmy Saville directed at McDonald from the Dover fans were unacceptable and I also believe an object was thrown at him in the first half. Shame really.

Anyway onwards and upwards!

I guess everyone is entitled to their opinion but to say most of the players gave less than 60% is outrageous. The players looked shattered at the end. I thought they gave their all in trying to rescue a point against a stronger team and very nearly pulled it off.

However James 1981 I will bow to your knowledge of commitment, as you are a Jonny come lately who has quit on your previous clubs Colchester and Basildon. Your unfair, unfounded and negative post suggests we will be the latest club you quit on.

I suppose its easy toi make comments on subjects you don't know the ins and outs of, let's leave them to Twitter. I am aware I am guilty of it too.

With games coming twice a week I suppose the team must tired, I never took that it to account.

The reason I 'quit' The Bees and The U's were for different reasons.

I helped put at Basildon United for a few years but couldn't give my time due to work commitments. Because of the work I could afford to go to Colchester a lot more, unfortunately the change of chairman meant the change of the clubs attitudes to the 'customers', with that and the rise in costs to get in and get up there I, with a lot of other U's fans, stopped going. It is Colchester United in name only, the club has changed immensely over the last few years.

It's only recently I have wanted to start watching football regularly again and to support a local club which is why I chose Billericay, if that's alright with you?!

Nothing like welcoming friends into your club NL

I am sure if you had any 'new friends' come to watch Upminster and threw unfounded and unjust accusations at your moderately successful team you might take them to task but I guess you are a little more desperate given your gates.

It's up to you what you put on your forum NL, but if you attack new fans with such vigour just for having a different opinion then yourself then that isn't going to be a good advertisement for your club - this is an open forum after all. I'd like to think that we would handle things differently.

Despite our lack of fans and being the poor relation to the mightly Billericay, we're not doing too bad thanks. The time to really worry about league position is nearer the end of the season anyway. I hope that both clubs stay up.

I am sure both Blues supporters are old enough and ugly enough to take the slings and arrows of each others opinions and arguments without any interference from another clubs supporters who put more value on forum traffic than bodies through the turnstiles.

I can only deduct from the interest from your area of Romford in our club on this forum that you either 1. Have nothing better to do or 2. Secretly wish to change your allegiance and support us.

Whatever.... I predict a post of garbage from Eastside Bumchin to follow....

....yawn....

Pleased to hear that Glen is ok. I must say I think people are being fairly harsh on our team at the moment. It's only last April that we went up as a pretty much unfancied team in the Ryman League and our last four games have been two away Tuesdays against Dover and Welling and home games against a team from the BSP and Dover who are now unbeaten away from home for a year.

Everyone loves to be a manager (me included) and of course everyone will have their own opinions about who and how we should be playing - there are a couple of regulars who wouldn't make my team but it's important that the fans stay behind the team that Craig picks. Our next two homes games against Bath and Eastbourne are much more winnable in my view and hopefully we'll all be smiling again soon.

As for the game itself, I thought Dover probably deserved it over the 90 but it was a lot less one-sided than some have made out. We certainly had them rattled towards the end. Disappointed to hear that some of the Dover support was the worst-behaved we have had down here for a long time but I suppose they must be practicing for the higher levels they think they deserve.

Keep the faith. COYB!!
