P.W.
Great victory! Well Deserved (as Coffin Ender says) .... taking the lead twice, and strongly defending the two-one lead for most of the second half. We looked well organised and defended the 2-1 for virtually the whole of the second half. The choir were in great form and (especially in the second half) were LOUD! LOUD! LOUD! Cookie
1-2 AB you always say 2-1 not 1-2 Great result today .Very well done both the players and those that could get to to the game to support the team & to make the 12th man. Nice to see the Hampton supporters on their forum give our team team credit for the win.... not! Not one iota!
michael
that really was veryverygood. No CK sychophant-but he got it spot on in his interview. The victory was deserved-narrowly-and what makes it good is a CK siad they are a very good side and it was a veryhigh quality/high tempo game. First game i have seen in over a year where the quality of the game/football was of a standard higher than ryman. Hampton still playing a style of passing footballl, that works at a higher level-bss. hampton will do well-whether their passing style is the type of football which wins the ryman -is a bit more debatable-Our slightly more direct style is probably more suited . I thought Hampton edged the first half, but Margate dominated the second-and it was well deserved. credit to both sides though. I thought the interpassing between hamptons no 10 ,11 and their captain at fullback was excellent-and the movement and way other players covered for them when no 10-reynolds (sign him up) moved around was of a standard you don't get at this level. we did struggle against it a bit first half, whilst still playing quite well. second half in particular-midfield really took a grip and won vitually every second ball-and totally took control-really good effort from the midfield working as a balanced 'pack'-very impressive-and we defended resolutely when called upon. whitnell and murphy both quite lively up front as well. even looked threatening from attacking corners-whereas in last couple of games i have seen-hardly posed any threat. thought CK got subs about right as well-i was in heaven when i heard him say-'no width'-magic-just keep it tight in centre where most of the game is fought/won/lost-and we won it in doses in that second half. always easier to write it when you win-but credit for the team effort -and credit to both sides for the quality of the game. also credit to margate for fitness levels as it was high tempo quality on a soft pitch. michael
error correction above: no 10-reynolds (sign him up ) their no 10 was simmons-not reynolds -and simmonds was a very very good player.
BlueGate Alan
Why,when we have our own number 10 (the hardworking Tommy Whitnell)
michael
did you see how good simmons actually was BGA -ran the game for the first 55 minutes, until we got a grip of him,and credit to CK and our midfield for snuffing him out in second haLF. that given-occasionally in an ocean of averageness-you do see an outstanding performance-and he was pretty outstanding for 55 minutes, which is why i refer to it-maybe it was just a one-off-but suspect not does it necessarily follow that because two players wear the same shirt number-they play the same roles in the team ?
