Royston match

Slough Match Sec

Recommended Posts

Good performance all round, agree that Smith was very good up front but the whole team deserves credit for closing out the team who were sitting on top of the league. I was quite disappointed with Royston, they didn't look like a team at the top, especially in defence, but their passing was good compared with a lot of teams in this league. We did well all over the pitch to keep the ball and play it around ourselves, Swifty was getting stuck in well too.

Seems after todays results, anything can happen in this league, with Guildford and Daventry losing too and all the other teams above us winning, no team is making their mark on this league yet, so still plenty to play for.

Hopefully this league cup game will go ahead on Tuesday as we don't need more league games pushed into the new year with winter postponements inevitable.

I must have been at a different game as I thought Royston were an excellent team and I could see why they were top of the table.

Having said that I thought we played very well and scored three cracking goals. I think the "timing" of our goals killed off Royston as they were having the best of the play when we scored our first goal and when they got back in the game at 2-1 Ed Smith produced an excellent bit of ball play to score our third and kill them off.

I think there are a few contenders for MOM today - including Stuart Swift for his cracking goal plus James for some important stops but I think Ed Smith gets my vote for his intelligent running on and off the ball plus his great goal. I have some sympathy for Danny who did n't have a great game but still put in a lot of effort.

What a shame that nobody from Royston came to support their team.

Keep it up Rebels you are looking good.
