Winslow Boy, do you know if "John Phillips" was on the Amersham teamsheet?

Not sure I'll find out. Sportsshots were down photographing the game (not for that reason) so plenty of photos

Fair play apparently dreadful rank bad defending for three of their goals.

  • No news yet of the penalty that Amersham are going to get. If they put their hands up and admitted their dickotry, then most of us (Rye supporters) would be content for them to have got kicked out of the Vase for a few seasons, stripped of their win money and put on some sort of supplemental penalty suspended conditionally on their not doing it again.

  • On the pitch, their players did them proud. Ok, we played like sh1te that day, but their back 4 was superb for a Step 6 team - even if one or two of them were ringers. Off the pitch, if you've been twigged, then why not come clean. I guess if you are stupid enough to deliberately cheat and think you'll never get caught, then you are probably stupid enough to remain in denial even with overwhelming evidence against you. The genuine supporters are getting caught up when I'm sure they don't deserve it - although if the team board matched the team sheet, then they must have spotted that something was up.

  • We've played 3 sides from the Spartan Leagues in the last 3 seasons in the Vase. Chalfont 2 years ago were a fantastic side who probably should have knocked us out at the first attempt, but a bit full of themselves. Levestock Green were fantastic hosts. We took up a coachload of supporters and drunk a lot, decking their clubhouse in red and black. I'd love to draw them again another year, maybe at home so that we can try and reciprocate their hospitality. I was on crutches at the time and well looked after by them. We still look out for their results and I occassionally put a bit in the programme about how they are getting on.

  • And now this lot.

  • I reckon your league would be better off without one or two of them.

7.2. It was intimated that Amersham Town had been fined £500 by the Football Association and removed from the FA Vase competition for three seasons for playing two ineligible players in their Second Round tie against Rye United on 17 November and for submitting an incorrect team sheet and match report form.

7.3. As a result of the FA investigation outlined in the above minute (7.2), the League reviewed results sheets Amersham Town had submitted for League matches. The club had subsequently admitted playing an ineligible player against Langford on 3 November and against Kentish Town on 20 November. It was agreed that the club be charged accordingly and also with falsifying result and team sheets.

Whoe the manager there

On Wikipedia it says Chris Martin, although I'm not sure if Amersham have had much cold play of late ;)

Joking apart its the worst and lowest thing any manager....and let's make that clear its the manager who knowingly doctors the team sheet...can do. It's his responsibility and duty to make sure he picks a side from signed on players. No manager I've ever played for or Managed with would have done it.

The only get out is if his secretary gave him the wrong information and if so he has made a genuine mistake. It appears not. Throwing them out of the vase isn't nearly enough if its proven.

£500 seems a bit lenient given that they took 4 times that in prize money from the Vase and didn't own up at the first opportunity.

Yeah I would agree but I would think they have had to return prize money so that's £500 on top. Seems little lenient but also a lot of money to clubs at this level.

From what I can make out, the manager has got them kicked out of the Vase this year and the next three. He's got them a fine. He's made some comments that less likely to be true than "Katie Price is talented". Yet he hasn't been sacked.

What can we read into that then?
