According to their website he's been named in 5 league matches this season - 2 in August which I guess were actually him, then in September against Winslow United which Amersham won 3-0 - again might have been the real player, then more recently in November against Langford 0-0 and a 2-3 loss against Kentish Town in November.

Article says he stopped playing beginning of September so any game he was named after that I guess we played them early sept so likely he played for real. Who knows about others as its been suggested it is not just one player

Seems that a 'hopper called 'Barbie' (where was Ken?) on Non League Matters raised the alarm.

 

If it was non-intentional, then fine them and ban them from the Competition for a season. If it was intentional then demote them a league and give a longer Competition ban and sack the secretary or person who made the daft decision to field players under pseudonyms.

Agreed. Hard to see how it can be anything other than intentional. Perhaps SSML should bring in photo card system that some Sunday leagues have. Quick inspection by ref and or random checks would irradicate this. A number of teams may have been cheated out of points and prize money in the vase. Hard to see how anyone responsible manager and or secretary can keep their position

I would say unbelievable but frankly since Facebook and Twitter have become massive there can be no argument that the majority of people are fecking morons it's there in black and white for all to see. Can't see why the card system hasn't ever been implemented or even discussed. Few years back we played Arsley Athletic and I think it was that Furness (quality player) was playing for them he was suspended but he played under a different name they had player pics on their website but without photos of him in the game we hadn't come prepared with cameras and getting a decent shot of a player in play on a pitch with a camera phone especially then nigh on impossible so they got away with it. Pretty disgraceful really.
