Just 6 places separated Welling and Billericay before tonight's game. Welling with two important players out 1.66 into 1.30 in Asia win 5-2.

Hardly irrelevant when a bookies spokesman is also posting about a big betting move, ive only just seen this someone sent me another message.

Alan Alger posted that last night, from the leagues sponsors. I think the HT FT move on UK markets is because the price got smashed in asia.

Welling have lost 1 game at home in 18 months and on Saturday they smashed Newport County, looks like some clever people may have seen the odds as value and gone to Town.

Think that must be it.

I do wonder sometimes with regards to betting in football at this level,i got some info recently about a local team, can't say who but it was very dodgy and although i could never prove foul play, the amount bet on a match, which on paper looked pretty even astounded me.

In my mind, football could be ripped apart by betting scandals etc,not too sure why people need to bet at this level but its a dangerous game.

I like a little flutter, but its just that,a little flutter,to others its a career and some people would do anything to gain as much money as possible from a career

Welling who haven't lost at home for 2 years against a Billericay team who have only won 2 away from home all season.

The ht ft was a pretty safe bet, with or without a text from Templegate.

As for the game, I know we lost 5-2 and as daft as this may sound I thought it was encouraging, we played well in spells. Welling have consistently been in the play offs and only lost by the odd goal to Dartford over two legs last season.

It's disappointing to lose but this was always going to be one of the harder games we had to play

As it's already been said i don't think we did too bad ,Ok the result looks iffy but i've been watching Billericay long enough to know the difference between total garbage (i've seen enough of it) and when the luck is going against you at the moment we are having no luck teams seem to be scoring with nearly every chance they get. This time last year we were getting the rub of the green so for me it's swings and roundabouts it's only a matter of time before we get some.(hopefully starting on Saturday)

Whilst Jgfc's comments may not be of much interest those of Alan Alger, who's Twitter profile states he is the PR Manager for Blue Square, may be.

At half time he Tweeted:-

"Once again Billericay Towns opponents backed off the boards in Asia... 3-0 down at half time at Welling United #dancinginthestreetsofmacau"

A few minutes later he elaborated on that comment thus:-

"People asking me to explain last Tweet. Last week Dover biggest price move on night (even when Champs Lge was on), same for Welling tonight"

And then added:-

"In plains terms people Tens of Thousands of miles away backed Billericay to lose last week/this week and they did/are"

And after final whistle:-

"Just 6 places separated Welling and Billericay before tonights game. Welling with two important players out 1.66 into 1.30 in Asia win 5-2"

It's hardly a major shock that we've lost at Dover and Welling on a Tuesday night when we've been leaking goals for fun all season and are playing two of the League's "big hitters" away.

I can only hope that someone from the Club contacts Blue Square and asks them to explain their (ex?) PR Manager's comments.

I have heard similar things from a friend involved in the betting industry that Billericay and many other Blue Square South sides have had massive amounts of money placed on them recently in both Asia and the UK.

The comments above just seem to cement the things i have heard.

Seems very suspicious that the Asian market is moving so much on Blue Square fixtures? and then being backed similarly in the UK

Going back to the game. We must not forget that our defence was good enough last season, however we have moved up a level and should expect that the strikers at this level are going to be better and therefore our defence may struggle at times. We will not win all our games but as long as we win enough to stay in the league we can improve.
