Dover tonight

Hats off to all the boys and girls who have made the trip down to Dover tonight for this rearranged match tonight.

Hopefully the boys will perform like they did on Saturday and we'll come away with something.

It's the same team as Saturday

Seems strange typing on here with a game in progress.

All the best fella's.

Conceded 1st goal within 10 minutes of kick-off & 3rd & 4th in first 10 minutes of 2nd half. Not sure what you read into that though.

Mr C Langer strikes again! Funny game as for large parts there was nothing between the sides. We didn't play as bad as the scoreline suggests but we weren't great either. We've gifted them 3 goals and that has ultimately settled it. Not many Blues travelled, possibly not helped that the BBC, Sky and FWP all had the game as P-P! I suspect that most gave two fingers to Dover after the recent floodlight failure. Unfortunately they stayed on this time!

I didn't think they were three goals better than us but when three of their four goals came nicely giftwrapped as early Christmas presents it was always going to be difficult to get anything from the game.

At ht we looked like we could still get something from the game but the two early 2nd half goals killed that off.

Move on to Saturday now though.

Agree, the game wasn't as one sided as the scoreline suggests, games can be won and lost on the smallest of margins, and we were very marginally off it.

Dover on the other hand had lady luck on their side, I'm sure in other games they will have played better and lost.

I'm dissapointed to lose, but not with the overall performance, a light session on thursday, followed by lashings of chiken and pasta should do the trick.

edit; the ref, how many times did he blow that bloody whistle!!!

dished out some very harsh cards to us too I thought.

Think he finally booked a dover player in the 93rd minute. Not too long to wait to dish out revenge though as they visit us in a week or so. Infact it could work out as our next league game

For those with a strong disposition the "highlights" can be seen here.

We already knew that mistakes get punished at this level and yesterday was another example of that. Luke had a bad day yesterday but he has had plenty of good ones as well. I just felt that quite a few of our players were slightly below par, possibly as a result of the tough game on Saturday. I know it's something Craig is unlikely to do but there is a case for using the squad a bit more, especially when we have quite a few games in a short space of time. For example we could have started Thelwell and Benjamin both of whom are cup-tied on Saturday and maybe Nathan instead of Sam or Junior who are both playing a lot of football at the moment.

Pleased to hear we look like signing a new midfielder as we look a bit short of options in the middle, but I will be even more pleased if we can bring in a mobile right back. Dave is doing as well as he can in there, but at the moment Junior seems to be doing more defending than attacking and Wildy is getting dragged to places he doesn't want to be!!

The video shows that we did do some good things and we can't get too hung up about an away defeat on a Tuesday night to a side that will probably be around the play-offs come the end. That said, I actually think we can beat them when we play them again in a week or so.

Looking forward to Saturday. Come on you Blues!!

PS - Agree about the ref - did he ever stop blowing his whistle?

Agree on comments about the ref, although it was going both ways - just far too whistle happy which meant the game had no real chance in terms of decent football.

We had a bad day - Dover were well organised and, although not one of the better teams we've seen, deserved their win.

However, a massive plus for me from the night was the way the players gave everything and didn't give up.

Full credit to all of them, but I'd go for Poole as MoM, mainly for workrate.

Heads up and on to Cambridge City reserves on Saturday - more of the same in terms of effort, and the 2nd round is well within us.
