Ideas to compensate for loss of sponsor

That's it crazy ideas about upping admission is would not be a temporary measure, sponsorship is sponsorship it should be from business who can promote themselves though the club.

What misa do is amazing on a voluntary basis without them the club wouldn't be here.

I think the club should remember the economic downturn affects us fans aswell, I feel any ideas of upping prices should be binned or your lose what support we have.

No reason to be slated - it's a proposal worth considering - I could manage another quid - the reference to expanding MISA role , which came from me, was not about them doing more work than they already do (and it's pretty clear they take on a huge amount ) but is about an advisory situation as they are surely the people who can see more of the picture than the rest of us and presumably have the ear of the Directors. It might be an idea for the club to do some MISA publicity this Saturday to get some more membership for it.

Do the league require prices to be fixed/agreed for the season ?-i suspect so.

that given-if there was an 'additional' entrance fee 'bucket'available for the turnstiles (On way in and on way out post game?)i'm sure quite a few would on a voluntary basis put the odd pound in-admittedly i don't get to as many home games as most-but i'm sure i'd find a couple of extra pound to 'add'on a voluntary basis to my normal admission.

I think people are looking at this the wrong way round (i.e. bringing in money, which is going to be difficult at the moment, rather than cutting costs).

A few ideas:

* Cut down on comps. You must need a very good reason to get in free.

* The programme is glossy paper throughout. Still have a glossy cover but non-glossy pages inside. It would still be among the best in the league.

* No free food (I'm excepting sponsors as they have in effect paid for grub as part of the package). If you are that hungry buy a Ginsters before the game.

* How much does the reserve team cost to run? I'd guess not a huge amount but, seeing as it hasn't produced first-team players for years, scrap it.

it's ONE POUND extra the price of a Sunday paper I think (i don't buy them)....thought the 'loss of fans' thing would come up from someone but if the money thins out the good players will be asked to leave, performances will drop, team drops to the bottom half and the fans disappear anyway. Bucket ideas never work hit and miss may get a good responce first week or so but doing it for possiblily months would never work. What's needed is a regular 'extra income' coming in to maintain the clubs loss.....and maybe the club directors when new sponsorship is hopefully found could give the fans a 'free day' to watch a match near the end of the season....

All well and good but we have two home league games before Christmas so clearly need a quick intake of some cash, any cash and hope Dartford bring plenty with them for the KSC game next week - it was a good sight to see all those Charlton fans with their plastic glasses from the bar last season.

What abou the north stand? I see planning was accepted and was part a if u like of the over all stadium development... But franchise the whole end out, name it the Adidas stand or burger king end or what ever, rent out the education zone and cafe other faculties hey presto. Get it to finance itself... And the club gets a new stand (fancy crystal palace/charlton/gillingham showpiece friendly) this would increase the overall value of the ground and less pressure on completing rest of build...

CE, i presume you don't go and watch the reserves. I do on a regular basis and although not all of them will go further, there are some young lads there that i have seen that i think have the potential to move further up the footballing ladder. I feel this team should be given the chance to hopefully build over the next couple of years.Saying that i think there are a few other decent ideas on here

We did run a campaign at the beginning of the season to try to ge more MISA members including making provison for people to sign up via PayPal via the official website. I don't know how successful that was but I do know no one paid by PayPal. A number of additional ebenfits were also added to the MISA package (http://www.margate-fc.com/content/articles.php?article=16)

As an update to the general idea of seeking donations: given the positive responses, we're currently putting together a donor programme that we hope will turn the interest expressed into donations and motivate others to get invovled.

Apart from the Christmas Raffle and the theatre evening, which are both a priority for support at the moment (the theatre evening is this coming Friday), other good opportunities to raise funds are the Goalden Goal Lottery and of course if we could get a good few new members of MISA the revenue from this would be a great help to us (MISA Applications Forms are available to download from the Club Website).

"CE" your suggestions, as good as your intentions are no more than tinkering around the edges.

What are the costs of running the reserves? No one takes wages, The gate 9 times out of 10 pays the officials, in fact in years past it has made a profit. The kit / washing, the balls, the lights and the fuel used by the mini bus to go to away games and, the fees to enter the league and competitions.

In the past we have held race nights and bowling afternoon's on Sunday's, to help fund the team. This was a great help saving the club these sundries expenses.

Why did we stop holding these events.

Race nights; In total only 3 actual supporters bothered to attend in total. It was only monies out of the young players and managements own pockets,an ex Chairman and director + getting out into the community to raise sponsorship that gave us a reward.

As for the Bowling we gave up on that one again due to the apathy of the supporters. Other than players, directors, Misa committee members and a couple of non supporters teams, you could count supporters on one hand.

I wish "Mark Sandwell" all the best with his theatre night at the Birchington centre.

I agree the cost of the reserves is not great (and indeed my other suggestions won't save huge amounts of cash) but, as the saying goes, look after the pennies and the pounds will look after themselves. That strikes me as a more realistic course of action than embarking on fundraising at a time when people - whether individuals or businesses - have little cash to spare. And, from a football point of view, unless we join a decent standard reserve league there is not really much purpose to the current set up. Look at the clubs we should be emulating (Dover, Tonbridge, Bromley and so on)...do they have reserve teams in the Kent League? No.

For the record one new member joined MISA last Saturday taking the mebership to 66 exactly the same as last season. Of this number approximately 60% pay the concession rate (£3) almost all because they are pensioners. I'll let you calculate how much cash derives from membership fees! The membership drive at the beginning of the season can be seen from the above to not have been a great success but nonetheless worth a try. We on the committee obviously would like to see more members but that alone would not resolve the financial crisis. The amount donated to the club in this financial year in both cash and kind amounts to a little over £20,000. Of this around 75% is raised through the lottery. One way of helping, as has been said on many occasions, is to encourage family, friends and work colleagues to enter at £1 per week.

Normally the above information is made available to members in June, after year end. I hope no-one minds me posting them on the forum at this time.
