v Mansfield (FA CUP FIRST ROUND REPLAY)

Cookham Rebel

Recommended Posts

I felt so deflated at the end of the whistle I just couldn't face the long journey home. The image of Alec Brown slumped in a bar chair said it all. We didn't deserve to lose.

As my emotions settle down, got to echo what everyone said above. The mammoth task of putting the game on going without a hitch, so many more turning up than we thought; the atmosphere in the stands and the players performance was immense. If anyone, including myself sometimes, wonders why i travel up from Slough to watch the Rebels then last night was the reminder. Proud to be from Slough, Proud to be a Rebel.

Now lets win this [****!!****]ing league and move back home please!

Like to echo post well above. Massive plaudits for all the back stage workers. I woke up today with no voice and a headache that feels like bfr is still chanting in my head. The boys were immense last night and I'm proud to be a rebel. Warros double save was literally amazing and all the players gave it all. I hope to see a bumper crowd at chesham and at least 50 or so new faces. Hopefully people with loud voices cos I'm effectively a mute ATM. Coyr

Terrific night, well done to everyone who organised it. Massive crowd for our level and a welcome reminder that a move back to Slough and a few promotions could see the “good old days” back at Slough. If we picked up 40-50 fans from last night it would have been equal in worth to all that prize money we’ve got in the bag. A few people at work went that haven’t been in years and had a great time time so you never know.

Really proud of the effort the players gave last night against full time oppostion, particularly in the second half when we had them against the ropes at a time you would think their superior fitness would come through. All should hold their heads up, no shame in going out on pens and I hear Shaun’s finally landed at about 7 this morning.

We all need to pick ourselves up now and crack on in the league – loads of points to play for and if we can put together that sort of performance week in, week out we won’t be far off.

COYR!

Superb performance! We didn't deserve to lose that, but neither side did quite enough in 120 minutes and there had to be one winner!

Not many part-time sides could hold a team of full-timers from 3 league above them to penalties, I think that this is a psychological victory in many ways and can only be good for us in the long run (not so sure about the short term however)!

Now lets bring these performances into the league, stuff a few teams and get out of this league! COYR!

Thanks to everyone who worked hard to make it happen. A really professional show, by the club, the stewards, the supporters and of the course the team. A great night.

(Tiny niggle - maybe we could get our landlords to fix the PA system. I assume that crackly squawking noise was the PA?)

Apparently the pa system works fine, it just depends if the user is "eating" the mic or not....

and great to see so many supporters working as stewards to help things run smoothly. I'll even thank the stewards who kindly reminded me that if I'm going to use my big gob, I need to temper my enthusiasm - point duly noted.

Best moment of the night (apart from the equaliser and subsequent celebrations) was Clemmo grinning like a naughty schoolboy as he escorted the referees off at half time. Wish I'd caught that on camera.

Thanks BFR for being one of the few supporters who I didn't get abuse from last night! I hope you realised my request was very firmly with tongue in cheek!

Yes, I saw Clemmo as he left the field at half time and thought the same. Ironic given that it would normally be him giving the ref some choice advice!!

210 minutes of football and they still couldnt beat us, brilliant night so proud of our team.

Made even more special this morning when our chief mortuary technician (sorry) drove past me this morning yelling Rebels out of his car window, he attended his first game Tuesday, lovely feeling.

Two things I found out after this game. If we get another crowd like that I will have to reserve a spot by the wall or grow two foot and Ian if you get fed up with your job you make a lovely toilet attendant.

Also see Walsall bottled it when they thought they might have to play Slough again.

Well done everyone again, fantastic night.

2 days on and I'm still bubbling. I would also like to thank everyone who helped on the night, Gary T saved me loads of running around.( My contribution to Mr T's fitness program )

I new we had great Support and backroom people, (sometimes taken for granted) Tuesday night you/we were Excellent.

I also spoke to a few not so regular supporters who said they were impressed with everything Slough Town, and would be coming to more games.

So hope they keep to there word, the only trouble is the next home games not till 1st Dec.

Yep that is a problem that there is a 3 week gap and by that point people may have once again forgotten.....

Maybe we should do some kind of promotion for the Royston game.....not sure what though but would be more than happy to help out.

Perhaps half price entry or kids for a quid or something

What do we all think?

We did brilliantly over the two games considering we were up against several players who have represented their countries at U21 Level, and England C level with one player who was at Celtic not too long ago. We should be very proud of what we did, although we need to focus back on the league tomorrow. Chalfont will be well-up for the game. I'd imagine our away support will help them more than double their best attendance this season tomorrow and teams will be even more out to get us now because of our exploits in the FA Cup. It's a very dangerous game on the back of extra-time - adding to the fact we lost their last season and they have some very good players in Daniel Hughes, Scott Fitzgerald and Terrell Lewis.

Be interesting to see if we now go and get a few more bodies in for this busy period. I'd love to see us sign Smith on a permanent deal, as i'm not totally sure what the situation is with him? Also like to see us bring an additional body or two in the centre of midfield.
