Economic climate claims Margate sponsors

That is a big hole in the budget and where does this leave the stadium. Sure news will be forthcoming but in meantime this has taken the gloss off the excellent season on the pitch so far. All part of a Margate fan's lot - just when everything is looking up...

Bad news all around.

Were we not previously advised about 3 months ago though ,that any sponsorship money from construt stadia would not be forthcoming anyway until the new year earliest, because of the ground 'delays'.

ground-delayed/postponed/cancelled -you chose !

obviously -the sad demise of construct stadia makes it harder to convince travelodge that it should proceed .

Best wishes to the board onf mfc in resolving it all

Worrying for us, but thanks to Construct Stadia for their support in the past.

You have to ask though whether they would have found themselves in this position if TDC had enabled us to start work on the stadium by now. I wonder if the council can sleep easily following this news...

For now though, here's hoping that all Construct Stadia's employees will quickly find themselves in secure employment again soon.

Seeing as the development won't be happening for the forseeable future, maybe it's time to revive the idea of a bit of cover at the Coffin End? Would hugely improve the ground in terms of comfort for spectators and atmosphere. Nothing fancy, a fundraising drive by the fans could see this come to fruition.

very sad news regarding the sponsorship but sign of the times I'm afraid. Agree with CE regarding the Coffin End cover would improve the ground it's far to open at present. Sort that end out then the changing room side at a later stage then not a bad looking ground to get us by for a few seasons till things (hopfully) pick up.....

This is why it is so important that we ALL understand the pressure that the Board and especially Cliff Egan goes through EACH Day. Not only are they supporters and fans of our beloved club, they have the responsibility of raising funds, getting in the funds, and securing funds for the future. Not a task I would want to take on, I know how difficult that can be running a small company like UBLOW, but doing it for a football club well frankly they ALL have my respect. All we can do is rally round Cliff and the Directors/officers of the club and support them whenever and wherever we can....

I will give them a vote of confidence and know they will pull something out of the bag...

Is this a case of us being lucky as if this had happened after the work had started we could have been left with a unsafe mess of a ground?

On the flip side, had the plans gone through a bit quicker, would this have been the contract that save them?

Not good news - we need to know what we can do in our own limited ways to keep the revenue coming. I had stopped having a pint in the bar so will resume that on Saturday. TDC only interested in making pointless political digs against the opposition so they ar eof no use (see last week's local papers for Clive Hart's latest attacks) Hopefully us getting back to some decent form will get a few more through the gate for a bit of cash flow but we do not have a lot of home games coming up before Christmas.

I wish this had been sorted out ten years ago. No improvements have been made to the ground since we moved back in 2005. What odds it will still look the same seven years from now?

as stated above and agree with you CE it would be nice to have some sort of cover at the Coffin end but that would prob need planning permission from TDC.....so that's not gona happen in the near future is it

Why not? They've given us permission for the mega stadium. No reason to turn down a shed (if indeed that does need permission).
