Ian
I think we have a better team this year. Not necessarily a better squad but overall I think a better team. It will be interesting to see how we accommodate Parsons and Fraser in the same team - both have been excellent so far.
Sir Rebel1965
Epicrebel in your very selective and misleading stats you missed: League points 11/12= 30 12/13 = 22 - but this is due to a different number of league games being played in the 21 games you select proving your method worthless. And in the attendance figures for this season you include more of the popular FA cup games including the Mansfield gate. If you are going to play the stats game you have to measure like for like. epicrebel
I'm not being selective I did all the games so far. There was 14 league games in the first 21 games last year and only 11 this, so win those games in hand and da dah 31 points. They are not misleading or worthless they are facts. As you said like for like First 21 games to First 21 game ( I cant leave out or add games ) Why do you have to come on here and be so negative if you don't like the facts don't comment
epicrebel
Ok take out the Mansfield FA Cup game =5082 Take out Hanworth FA Cup game = 5089 (like for like) As far as I can see that makes it look even better because I've taken out about 1,100 more from this year and it still holds up. Please feel free to sl@g off another positive.
Mark44
A good set of stats showing we are moving on in general but as Staines rebel has pointed out its not like for like and stats such as attendance will be skewed by the cup run this year. Would be interesting to see league games like for like to this time last year
Sir Rebel1965
Mark leauge games 11/12 23 points 12/13 22 points - but even this figure is not accurate as the ratio of home to away games is not he same.
HorshamRebel
No statistical comparison is ever accurate unless taken in a clean laboratory situation where the retest is identical to the original. You will always find differences when comparing over time. Take football for example... You have different players on the pitch, different teams played, different lengths of grass, different weather conditions, maybe players with slight illnesses or injuries playing, different referee decisions (pens/non pens), different styles of play, different substitutions... to name but a few Thanks for the stats Epicrebel they were very informative
Mark44
Very true Horsham However, that what assumptions are for and so I. Order to make any inference you need to make assumptions
HorshamRebel
Indeed you do Mark, as I did when I quietly read the first post earlier this morning
Martin
After Mansfield, we've got 9 games in the league before Christmas - 7 of them away from fortress Holloway Park. Will be much clearer how things look then.
Rebel Kay
As long as the weather holds out and we get to play them.
Irishadrian
This season we have played 9 home league games watched by 2075 people Last season our first 9 games were watched by 2558 people so there is no real evidence that out attendances are up This may be because there have been so many home games in the early part of the season so costs havent been spread as they would normally be Most of you seem reasonably happy with our current league form but apart from the glut of away games coming no-one has reflected on the bizarre fact that we have only played two of the teams expected to be in the playoffs or thereabouts and both of them beat us We have played team after team from the basement We have had six league wins so far against teams currently 10th 14th 17th 18th 19th and 22nd We musnt get complacent and need to fight for every point if we are finally to get out of this wretched league. HEAVY TRUCKER
you can always prove / disprove anything you like with statistics, doesn't the old adage go something like, lies, damn lies and statistics?
Don Juan DeMarcus
Can't we have someone be positive without being shot down? Yes stats can be misleading but we have scored more conceded less and been booked less no matter what! Thx for the stats.
