Mangotsfield 1 2 Canvey Island

Right where do I start?

A tough match in which we dominated but couldn't take our chances.

We could have been two up inside 10 minutes and their keeper also made some good saves but for the majority of the first half we were frustrated by a workmanlike performance by the 'Mangos'.

At the start of the second half Berquez missed a open goal and when Mangotsfield went up the other end and scored it seemed like Slough all over again.

The difference with this game was we played with passion, grit and determination. A superb Chris Duffy cross was dispatched by the excellent Greggors to evoke sheer pandemonium amongst the vociferous travelling Yellow Army.

By now some of the locals were starting to get a little stupid and the banter was threatening to degenerate into something nasty.

Boylan scored the winner minutes later sending the Canvey fans wild and we could have increased the lead with Greggors heading wide and the keeper making a fine save from Duffers.

So the final whistle went and Canvey were through but there was still more drama at the end as several of the locals (I say locals, they were NOT Mangotsfield supporters)who had started to bait the Yellow Army took it upon themselves to conduct a full blown confrontation.

Didn't see any of it myself but according to some of our fans and stewards at the club the trouble was started by a group of Bristol City fans with absoloutely no affiliation to Mangotsfield and it wasn't pretty! <img src="/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />

The police were called but by now it was all over. The incident certainly left a sour taste in the mouth but I must stress the people and supporters of Mangotsfield were very friendly especially those I was talking to in the pub before the game who didn't actually attend the game. A sad end to a great day and credit must go to the travelling supporters who were in excellent voice today.

So Southend here we come!

How ironic is it that the police moved the game probably because they didn't want to police it because City or Rovers were at home and then it's them supporters that cause the trouble.

Sounds like a weekend for it what with our scrape with Billericay and stuff happening at B'wood, Grays and Dunstable to name a few

Can't say I'm that surprised Thornsy. Seems to be lot of it happening in the non league game. Apparently there was some trouble at the Sudbury v East Thurrock FA Cup game the other night and that was down to West Ham fans!
