Enfield United
Old Towner , you are right everyone is entitled to an opinion. I thnk Gunz has been playing well with Liam since Steve changed the formation and holds the ball up well which gives Liam more time to play off and around him. I agree we do give the ball away too much , not on purpose I'm sure buy more as a result of poor decision making. Like you we both have identified that we needlessly gave the ball to their keeper twice and got punished on the counter attack twice. You saw how Steve reacted , he subbed Joe who is in my opinion now showing what a good player he is and will score us all important goals from midfield. If we stop making silly mistakes I agree we can all see we will cause teams problems when we attack because we have some attacking players who when on form will pose a real threat. A strong ball winning midfield player again I agree would be a good addition. I think we have seen that Steve looks to improve the side and squad when he needs to , Lee White and Hunty show that this season. Rather than throwing in Chalky from the U 18, side he went and got a pro from Brighton ( dan east ) to cover for Noel. PS if you win the lottery give some money to Steve and he will be able to go and get whatever players he wants lol ! Agree with your comments totally. Very frustrating to come away with nothing but very proud I support a ETFC team which is honest in their desire and efforts. Got home early hours of Wednesday and the Cat legged it when she saw me, saying that, we are in good form at the mo but losing must not become a habit. One area which I'm sure is being looked at is the consistent conceding of 3 goals recently v ETU, Cray, Canvey and Hastings, we need to score 4 to win. I think the strike force of Wallace, Hope, Campbell and Hunt is working and O'Brien is a good player too chipping in with a couple of goals recently too. I think a very good retainer of possession in Cent Mid and a experienced mouthy authoritative CH who can 'manage' players on field. We are all experts and we all know what to do but saying it is easier than delivering it and we are not too far away with the group we have at the mo. My cat I for one am looking forward to Billericay on Saturday with positivity.
CD Towner
For me its pretty clear - the worst defence in the league tells the story. The goals we are conceding are predominantly our own doing and we can only defend individual mistakes so far. We have defenders who (most) of them like to play with the ball and are technical. We need to go back to old school rigid defending and bring some 'well-channelled' nastiness to our defending. At the minute our combinations dont seem to be working. We ae giving the ball away too easily in midfield which exposes our defence and then we seem to be making rash decisions. A prime example being Tuesday night, O'Brien gives the ball away, Bardle dives in unneccsarily and we dont mark the goalscorer. Very frustrating. I cant make Billericay but lets hope for an unexpected victory! COYT
