Slough v Rugby

Windsor Rebel

Recommended Posts

Yep loads of people shovelled snow off of the pitch at the Dolphin, travelled to Whitby etc etc my husband being one of them. As for me being a 10 minute supporter, so what, the clue is in the title, I support which is the main thing. Also please dont flatter yourself by thinking you annoy me irritating is nearer the truth.

Anyway moving on to much more important things, some good write ups and pictures in the Slough Observer today, some lovely things said by Stuart and Danny (Burnell)also a very good letter published from Ted.

Be quiet woman, i'm listening to Hotspuds words of wisdom

I'm still waiting for him to agree to follow through with his bet and shake on it on Saturday. For all his bravado hiding behind a forum alias he seems reluctant to put his money where his mouth is. Do you think he's really another of Clive's many forum characters?!

Not reluctant, but you're a comedian I guess, £10 more like make it £100! That's how confident I am.To wait till next year for £10 is childs play-it has to be worthwhile. So tuesday at the game have your wad with you and we can give it to an independant to hold.

No, I'll be working Tuesday doing jobs that need doing. One of many volunteers giving up their time rather than moaning from the sidelines. I'm quite happy to put £100 into the kitty tomorrow witnessed by Alex Brown and recorded for posterity by Gary.

It's very hard for anything to be good enough for those who live so entrenched in the past. Amazingly we live in an era where Slough Town FC does not have England internationals on their payroll. I think most of us have grasped this fact and adjusted our perspective accordingly.

Ian, Hotspur is not me - I think we have a 1 in 4 chance of promotion as I cant see us winning the leauge outright due to the poor start to leauge games and the number of away games we have to catch up on, that with the top 5 teams already having a points to games ratio of over 2 per game and us only having a 1.9 ratio - 1 of those 5 will win the league, we will however get into the playoffs and then it is the lottery as experianced in the last 3 seasons.

The problem we have is we have done very well in the FA Cup and the leauge form has suffered - i.e. Rugby on Tuesday - it happened to Staines last year, great cup run and blew out on the league.

It is always a very hard ballance between the glory of the cup or the week in week out grind of the league.

I will however be at todays game, but due to extremly bad conincidence I have to miss the cup replay due to having my gual bladder removed on that day!!! - I did consider asking for the op date to be changed.

Warrens discription is correct - Hotspud - half baked skin and a brain made of mash.

Why Tuesday? What's wrong with Saturday? Shame if you are not going first game missed since doomsday book etc etc

Well if its ok with you my grandaughter is getting married in 4 hours time-still as you lot are so ignorant that you cannot be told anthing, perhaps I BETTER GET YOUR APPROVAL TO ATTEND!

AND WE DONT LIVE IN THE PAST-just pointing out that there is no comparison between then and now, sadly you all have no way of measuring the difference so older ones like me try and helpfully explain it all to you-but as we know nowadays ignorance seems to be the way forward.its like youngsters of today would rave over Rooney not understanding that he is not a patch on George Best etc etc,

Silly old me thinking the game had changed in the last thirty years or so. I do like the fact we can't be told anything, but at the same time it is unacceptable to notice the game has moved on. Some people will always be stuck in the past and whilst I am sure it was a great side back then, we should be grateful for what we have now, whilst still maintaining a level of expectations and standards to be met.

There is no way of comparing the football from 50 years ago with today as almost everything has changed in football.

there are things which you can do within the game today which you couldnt do in the past and vice versa.

the game used to be more physical and no adays most players fall over whenever some one is near them (which is embarassing).

but todays game is alot more unpredictable due to more players having skill and being able to hit a knuckle ball (im sure you know what that is hotspur).

there are so many great players from the past; pele, best, maradonna, zidane, beckenbauer, B Charlton just to name a few.

But there are just as many great players today; messi, C.Ronaldo, cassilas, Xavi, iniesta, and rooney

I hope your granddaughters day was lovely. Honestly no irony or sarcasm intended at all before I'm accused of taking the piss.

Age doesn't necessarily equal knowledge and vice versa youth doesn't equal ignorance. I can appreciate how we are not at the level slough was historically. However, we are playing at a much better level than we have relatively recently. We are financially stable and considering we have no ground I think our outlook is positive. If I was so negative about everything and hated seeing our current ignorant youngsters play, there would be an alternative. I wouldn't come at all.

So Ian please let me know all the alias's I am supposed to be loging in as - yes I used to be Staines (Upon Thames) Rebel, but I can no longer log in as that as I dont have access to the password any more.

So please provide the other names I am supposed to be loging in as and proof of that, and when you cant I await your apology.

Clive.
