GlenSTFC
Whilst we all can’t wait for 3pm this Saturday, I must remind all travelling fans of the responsibility they carry on behalf of all of us to enjoy the day to its fullest but still remember we have a long and strong tradition to live up to. Over the past few years we have seen the club drop four divisions to a standard we find hard to live with. Thanks to the efforts of many those steps now seem to be retraceable, I’m personally totally convinced in my own mind we have the management, players and supporters to make that journey possible, but we need to be aware of the pitfalls that could set us back. Following the FA Cup replay match at Gosport Borough we were forced to respond to a request by the Football Association as to why a member of our travelling supporters ran onto the pitch following the goal celebrations. Kay Lathey (Club Secretary) very professionally gave her response, but still at this moment we have yet to receive a reply… we still could be fined for the offence. What I am trying to say is the moment we arrive at the ground on Saturday, we represent Slough Town FC with the strongest of traditions, we were a Conference side under Brian McDermott, unfortunately at present we are not. Mansfield Town have in the past been an established Football League side they too have dropped a few divisions. All the club ask is for both sets of players and supporters to give us a game to remember for all the right issues. Talking with our Chairman Steve Easterbrook over the past few days he has made it perfectly clear to me the importance of the occasion. Our new ground development could be finally decided in a matter of weeks, any adverse publicity would not help our cause. Being honest I am not that concerned, I know we have the nucleus of a fan base to be proud of, but |I feel I still needed to put my thoughts on paper, as many wives and children will be watching for the first time plus a coach carrying our Academy youngsters will also be in attendance. So lets all arrive in style and enjoy the day to the full, come on you Rebels! Roy Merryweather (on behalf of the Management Committee).
Matt
It was one bloke who only comes along for the big games. Can't see it happening amongst any of our regular support.
Ian
Indeed but sadly it might still end up costing us a fine.
Don Juan DeMarcus
Unfortunately anyone on this site reading this would not be any of the people who would cause the club such problems. So although an excellent post above ....I fully agree with ...I don't think it would make its target audience....
Radders
Whilst it may not be read by those who really matter, it's a reminder to all of us to show our club up in the best light. Because of this, I will try to not break any chairs!!! In all seriousness, I hope to hear us singing for 90 minutes, supporting the team whatever the score and enjoying a great day out in the best traditions of our football club!!! Your name, Radders, has already been handed to the Mansfield stewards as one to look out for!! I assume we are going to try and co-ordinate the noisy ones sitting together?! Sue
Matt is right he does only come to big games and that is what worries me, actually it more that worries me it makes me flipping angry !
The Mayor Of Simpleton
Providing you don't chant 'are you Joe Elliott in drag' to the Mansfield Executive Carolyn Still, you should be alright! Good luck for tomorrow!
readingrebel
Am I missing something? We know who the culprit is and I assume he's booked to go on the coach. Has anyone with authority from the club had a quiet word with him to let him know what behaviour is expected from ALL Slough supporters.
Windsor Rebel
If he is booked up to come on the coach and people know who he is, then someone should have a quiet word with him - and it does not have to be someone from the club. Like Roy says, we are in the spotlight and dont want a repeat of any negative publicity similar to the incident at the AFC Hayes game last season. Martin
Definitely need to make sure the big gobs are all together. It sounds like we should have plenty of space so we should be able to shift around. Either that or meet in the bar and all go in together.
Rebel Kay
The Club is indeed aware of the individual in question and will take appropriate steps if in attendance tomorrow. However the above is a reminder to us all to enjoy the day, but to make the club as proud of its supporters as the supporters will be of the club whatever the result tomorrow. A Rebel and a Saint
I hope the club is aware that he also tried to jump the fence when we scored our second goal at Gosport, but was held back by one of our own stewards. I would hope that the stewarding would be sufficient enough to stop people from getting onto the pitch, but it's good that the club have recognised the problem and will take steps to sort it. I hope he is ashamed of himself for being solely responsible for getting the club (possibly) fined. Yes, definitely need to get the loud voices togther in the stands tomorrow, very much looking forward to getting involved with that! Win, lose or draw we should be singing for the full 90mins, COYR! Graham Cox
Some of you will know of the sad circumstances that mean I feel it wrong to go to Mansfield tomorrow........just too soon after such a happening. But I will be thinking of the team, officials and supporters(so many of them my friends) and will have fingers crossed for a great result...............the second round will be a better time for me and please God the boys achieve that for us. Enjoy the experience evryone

Sue
Bless you Graham we will all be thinking of you too, sending lots of love to you and your family. Nigel / Eddie I might be wrong but I think he is banned from the coaches as I believe his behaviour on there was unacceptable as well.
