Will you be voting, and if so, why ?

I for one will NOT be voting.

Not really in favour, as it's another layer of bureaucracy and jobs for elected puppets/idiots imho.

Still, no doubt, it will be hoisted upon us...

Tricky one, People should use their vote, but you need to know what you are voting for. On two levels this is difficult. No-one has adequately explained to me why this change is necessary, and I have no idea whether any of the candidates are capable of doing the job!

SO THERE YOU HAVE IT...........

Apathy ruled, and quite right too !

HOWEVER.......

I was pleased to see the Surrey result.

The current Chairman of the Police Authority was standing as the Tory candidate, assuming, as he hails from a particularly tory county, it would definitely be a cake-walk for him to be elected.....

NOT SO............

An Independent got in. Retired police Officer, whose mantra is 'ABSOLUTE ZERO TOLERANCE' !!

BRILLIANT.

I'm glad that Gloucestershire has an Independent as well - Martin Surl: http://www.policecommissioner.net/#/about-me/4569941022

The smug tory b*st*rd who won in Hertfordshire was already chair of the Police Authority, but will now get £75K a year for working part time in addition to his County Council and Dacorum Council roles! So, same man, same hours but £75K more, less whatever he got as chair of the Police Authority (although they'll probably forget to stop paying that for at least 18 months!).

He was already claiming personal credit for a 20% reduction in crime in his former role, so why change anything?

What a waste of time and money! (and, although the authorities are being pretty coy with the actual voting figures, he was clearly elected by less than 10% of the electorate).

Cameron bats off the criticism about low turn out by saying that it was inevitable because it was an election people were not used to, and turnout would be better next time. NO IT WON'T you git!
