Alton Town FC Looking At Extinction. Please Help.

Recommended Posts

Landlords Molson Coors have given Alton Town Football Club instruction to vacate the Coors Sports Ground – the club’s home for almost 30 years – at the end of the season.

Please sign our online petition to urge Molson Coors to re-engage with town & district councils and other interested parties to enable Alton Town FC to move to a new stadium - and to allow them to remain at their present ground while this is resolved...

Alton Town are a club that are close to my heart.

I spent 10 years there as a player and res's manager pre my Farnham Town days.

Please sign the petition (linked above) to try to put some pressure on Coors and the local council to try to come to a solution that will keep Alton Town alive.

Hi Fleet

Glad to sign this, and if you want I can hopefully get a side to play Alton Town in November (so long as it's OK with the club officials) in support of them staying at The Coors Ground.

This side has connections with a few big-hitters in the football world and, if they offer their support and spread the word among their friends and contacts, it could save Alton Town.

Cheers.

You could understand a little if the company was struggling and it was looking to sell some of its assets in order to preserve some jobs but that clearly isnt the case as the company is doing exceptionally well given the current state of the economy. So much so that as a group they are actually acquiring businesses. Its shocking really I have signed.

Chubby, don't even start. I thought you were bigger than that.

This is about Alton Town and their future - leave your personal gripes off this thread thank you.

Thanks for your comments Mayor, touching as always.

For the record I have already signed this petition as I saw it on twitter over the weekend.

If the great Phil Babb does turn up then please do let me know.

Lots of love.

I've signed. Ashford played at Alton Town once - nice ground, nice people.

I think that, while I can't blame the landowner for wanting to divest themselves of the site, they should only do so once both sports clubs on the site have new homes.

Unfortunately, 'Industrial' language is par for the course at most grounds.

Providing there's no drug abuse or OTT violence at clubs (I have seen both at one club owned by a brewery - not Coors).

If Alton Town lose their ground, they lose their history and the town loses its club.

The non-league community needs to unite in common cause to help Alton Town survive - you never know when it could be YOUR club in trouble (and I speak as a worried Tiger as it's not certain we'll have a ground in the future either!)
