Anyone feel the same??

Will probably get slaughtered for putting this as its deemed negative but is anyone else not really feeling the love for the Conference South???

It seems to me that the Ryman league was much more friendlier, had more away fans and generally more enjoyable.

Not saying I don't want to be in connie south but its different from how I remember it,Salisbury away apart and the 1 Weston and a handful of dorchester fans,I don't think any of the opposition fans have even tried to interact like they did in the Ryman???

How can you say that, all the hard work and determenation last season for us to get promomted which was what the fans really wanted for so long!

We have got to work hard at staying at this level, no one has said it was going to be easy. It will be a msssive step for the club if we are lucky enough to stay up in this league come the end of the season.

The team have got injuries at the moment, i hear that some have had flu / virus so are not able to perform on the pitch to the best of their ability. This is only temporary and will pass.

Once we have a fit full squad plus once the recent new signinns have foudn their feet in the squad then we will be amatch for ayone and wont be 5th from bottom. Well, so i believe.

I have found the away and visiting supporters a lot nicer than some clubs in the Ryman.

I personlly got fed up with visiting the same old grounds season after season. Got fed up with our so called "friends" at local rival clubs and others trying to give Hornchurch a bad name and slag the club, team and us supporters off the whole time.

Banter or not banter depending how you want to take it. Personally got over the top at times. its nice to get away from that.

I do agree that the opposition supporters dont get involved but why keep worrying about that when we should be getting right behind the team, as we know it will encourage them and right now think that they could do with it.

I seem to remember Dover interacting Rob :D

On a serious note, I am finding it not quite as enjoyable overall as I thought I would, but have assumed it was down to the fact that we have always had a winning mentality at the club and after the promotion last season we were all on a high, this season we have been dumped out of the FA Cup and have won just 3 league games so far. The teams are a lot harder to beat, I was looking at the start of the season at games early on I thought we could win and had Billericay away and Weston at home as potentials, but we drew both. I think it may get better when we play all the teams again, we are in a different league for the first time in ages, Billericay were in the ryman a lot longer but for whatever reason they have done a fair bit better than us so far. I think we will have a home game soon where it all goes well and we will be a bit more positive.

I do wish people woud read what i actually write intead of making their own decisions on what i have written.

Annie, its not about Hornchurch or the hard work etc,not questioning any of that,I am questioning the fact that its different from what we are used to as a club, its almost as if the clubs in the conference south actually believe they are better than ryman clubs, not on the pitch but off the pitch, which to be quite on honest i dont believe many are!!.

I can almost sense that by many of the bigger connie south names that we are still viewed as a Ryman club not a connie south one and this will not change for some time.Maybe my enjoyment is being soured by not being able to make the longer away days as it would mean not working Saturday nights,Bath was always one I wanted to go to,as is Truro but last Saturday I didn't even think about the game till about 4pm when someone text me,it didn't bother me not going which is the first time for years I have felt like that.

I am all for Hornchurch progressing as far up the league system as possible and long may it continue, just feels a bit odd to means not quite what I expected.

Your thread was going to stir some feelings up.

I have not lost my love for the game, especially after recent events higher up.

I'm quite happy to interact with our own fans, even though numbers are down.

Staines is one example where the football was dire, but the banter made up for it.

The football on the pitch is a step up from the RPL, there's no doubt about that and I think that the fact that we are reasonably competitive is a testament to the people at the football club.

I enjoyed going to places like Lowestoft and Margate, didn't enjoy places like Horsham and Hendon,

Salisbury has been my favourite away game this season, good team on the pitch and nice people off it.

Good set of fans that go away with Hornchurch IMO.

Sounds like our poster from Billericay thinks that they are already firmly established in the BSS because they are a bit bigger than the pub team down the road from them. See what happens when they play Chelmsford.

Rob, When we were promoted I was called by an established connie south chairman, he warned me that as the "New Boy's" certain clubs would look down on us, he said to expect comments like " this isn't the Ryman" & "this is big boys football" ...and he was right.

So I get where you are coming from. You only have to look at the coment I pasted onto our froum from a Havaant fan to see that.

But it will pass, if we are able to stay up, there will another crop of "first years" next season for the bullys to sneer at, and we will be Second years....which is well on the way to being the crème de la crème. FOURTH YEARS!!

Chin up!

Plenty of trips still to look forward to in this league.

Think people may have miss-interpreted your initial post Rob.

I'm sure you'd rather have more Salisbury's than most of the Ryman teams.
