We have had books on the Abbey, the Town,Verulamium, even well written histories of our local railways. When are we getting a definitive history of St.Albans City Football Club?Is there anybody out there prepared to research and publish one?It will make a great read and I would certainly buy a copy.Anyone agree?

Bernie

Judging by the almost total lack of response to your commendable suggestion, any Club History would not only be expensive to purchase but could also be a definitive tome edged in black.

Like several other beloved institutions in our once lovely City, the football club could soon be but a memory.

Dave Tavener is our only hope ! [color:"blue"] [color:"blue"]

Somewhat negative, Barksdale and a trifle harsh and hasty Webbo, although this one may be too subtle for me.

The 'definitive history' as pictured by the archivists would run to a number of volumes which may not be quite what Bernie Tune has in mind. An abridged version would make fascinating reading but I don't know anything about football and even less about book publishing.

2008 is a big year!

Barksdale. There are some little local difficulties on and off the pitch and interesting challenges for all involved at The Park at present but, surely, you would agree that we have been a lot worse off at times in the past?

Webbo. Don't be so quick to judge!

Morning Barksdale.

I seem to recall a posting on here from the Captain of the Titanic. Well it was someone posting under his name as, clearly, it wasn't from the man himself. It was in the months prior to, or during, the suspension of the club from the League early last year and it offered some advice to the former Chairman and his Board of Directors as I remember.

Dark days at the time with little to lift the gloom. Anyway, that's in the past.

Talking of history, Barks, and the start of this thread, have you and your associates considered the publication of some form of history of the Club? I have no feeling for the scale of the task, it's preparation let alone publication. Is that something for the official centenary in 2008?

I'll send you a PM.

Who said Lee Harding had bought the club as we had a meeting of the supporters tonight and his name did not come up at all in the discussions as to who was interested in taking over from Laz

On a happer note you can add the Ryman League and FA to the list of people chasing Laz

Anyway why are you talking about Lee harding i thought he was PE No1

or was it his wife after you pr*ts covered her in mud and let the car tyres down

Greetings Enfield 37.

a). Your first question was "who said Lee Harding had bought [Enfield F.C.]?".

One of the reasons that the message from Big Ron was left unanswered all afternoon yesterday is that Big Ron is the site name used on here by..............wait for it, Enfield 37........... Lee Harding.

Yes, strange sense of humour, but there it is. I would have left his posting unanswered but for your intervention.

B). Your second question was "Why are you talking about Lee Harding?".

"We" aren't. See the response in a). above.

c). Your third point related to his wife and his tyres.

We have heard those stories, along with "Hate mob drove me out", "I was spat at in the streets", "The Directors met with an unprecedented level of abuse and criticism". For Heaven's sake. Some of us were waiting for "They have kidnapped my children" but he didn't go that far.

I could go on but what's the point? He told anyone that would listen including the local press that you at Enfield F.C. regard him as some kind of saviour.

You have come on here Enfield 37, jumped to a wrong conclusion and called us pr*ts. This football club was suspended from the league and on the brink of extinction early in 2002 and I, for one, have sympathy with Enfield F.C. in your current difficulties. In your case, your former Chairman would appear to be finished in football.

At St. Albans City F.C., we are interested in the future, not the past. However, if you are interested in the recent past of this football club, you should not rely upon the words of it's former Chairman without checking the facts. In the same way, if I had any interest in the history of Enfield F.C., I wouldn't rely upon the words of Tony Lazarou.
