thecoldend
Great performance by the whole team against a decent Concord side and a win at Thames Road for the first time since 2004. Tom S
For the second game in a row Concord v ETFC hinges on a penalty/red card decision. Was the ball over the line before Billy Coyne handled it? After the play off final I couldn't care less. It was funny seeing Concord appealing for a goal against themselves though. Steve Newing
If you read the report in the Non League Paper , provided by Concord you would think they were unlucky. No mention of one perfectly good goal dissallowed for offside by Joe O'Brien , no mention of Gunz header cleared off the line, no mention of Tylers shot that hit the post, no mention of keeper having to make a point blank reaction save to stop an own goal. Nor other chances that we falied to capitilise on , granted we needed that second goal to be sure of the victory and that they played well and kept at it with ten men , but the better team won and could have been by more. Chase Side Towner
Thanks Cold End for the highlights as always. Interesting points by comeon, and looking at CE's footage I've got to agree. You get lots of one sided reporting in the Ryman - you can look at a match report written by either side on their official website/forums and it often looks like two completely different games. At least with CE's coverage you get a fair reflection of the games, even when we're piss poor. Anyway, a 2-0 win away from home against opposition in the same division is very welcome. I think at last we're starting to find our feet this season. There's a long way to go, but we're always going to create chances in every game, playing some good stuff along the way. Canvey Island and then Hastings away a week on Tuesday. Two tough games so we'll see where we are in the league in 10 days time.
MbrunoB
The problem with the reports is that they are provided by the clubs and no matter how hard you try to be fair you are still going to favour your own team as I find out with mine for the Ladies team. Southport - TOWNER
I love the black & red stripe shirts, my favourite kit to date: but why were we in those colours? can we wear them in the next round?
Steve Newing
I hear Steve had something to do with it. Wanted something different to the strips we wore when we played there 3 times in the season when we lost the play off final. Officially it is the third kit anyway for when we can't wear the full home kit or full away kit. Got a feeling we will be wearing it again on Saturday at Canvey.
