Cookham Rebel
2-1 HT Burnell with both goals!
Radders
Fleet 1 up after 2 mins. Burnell equalised after 5 with a 25 yard screamer with his left foot into the top corner. Second was a header around the half hour mark from a corner beating the keeper to the ball. Very good performance so far with brown parsons and of course burnell playing particularly well. Chris
Fairly comfortable and important win against a Fleet side who tried to play football the right way. Never felt we really did, or had to get out of third-gear today and were always in control despite their opening goal. Tall order and very early days, but win our games in hand (and if Burnham/Guildford do ikewise) we'd go joint-top on 28 points.
Cookham Rebel
Think away at Leighton will be a huge test of character, more so than today, we have been notorious for being poor in mid week games, sometimes we have nicked a result other times we haven't but just hope we have seen the back of those performances now! For me, Jake Parsons adds a completely different dimension to our play...
Cookham Rebel
The above post is not meant as a negative post at all either, the achievements so far this season have been brilliant, I just want out of this poxy league!
Matt
Two more good goals from Burnell today. He's developed his game so much. Not just a six yard box poacher; now a more complete striker. And his first touch seems so much better too.
Ian
Yes, Danny is so much more of a complete player than in previous seasons. His two FA Cup winning goals have been where he's held off the centre back to get goal side and score. I'm not sure he'd have had that strength before. He's also learned to shoot from distance occasionally. Where did that left foot shot today come from??!! He just needs to keep his mouth shut now and he'd be even better! RodB
First game I've been to since late Aug. STFC look a different team - far more rounded, largely down to Parsons (who is real class and adds another dimension, as Cookham Rebel says), the reinvented Danny Boots-of-an-Angel Burnell, who looks saner, fitter, and much more in control, Ed Smith who moulds to Angelboots well, and D Deeney who I thought was pretty ineffective when I first saw him but was very influential today. Course this is all seen against today's opposition who were rather young and lightweight.
RodB
Brown and NBH were immense too, but they were back in Aug.
A Rebel and a Saint
A very professional performance from the whole team, there was no panic when Fleet scored and we controlled the game very well. Agree that Burnell was excellent once again, his partnership with Smith seems to be working well now he has improved his overall game. Our defence marshalled Fleet very well today too. Same again Tuesday and we will be in a very good position. There is still lots to play for with all these games in hand, we have to take the chances to catch up with the leaders. readingrebel
Real coup in signing Jake Parsons, pure class. Danny Burnell is on fire and playing with real confidence, unfortunately due to some silly bookings hes now only one yellow card away form a one match suspension. On the subject of suspensions I see that Brown, Swift and Rhone are suspended and will miss the Rugby game.
readingrebel
Also think Dave Deeney had an excellent game. IMO when he puts his mind to it he is a top player.
Martin
Excellent performance, very professional and got the job done against a limited side. What more can I say about Danny Burnell? He is on fire at the moment, another tremondous performance - two well taken goals. He deserved the perfect hat trick. Nicely taken goal from Smith too. Mark44
Agree that Danny burnell was superb Also, due to the rain we stood under the cover second half, it's not often we get to see our defence close up and the way they work really is superb. Well done lads, keep it up
