3spirit
I know Slough fans are caught up in the euphoria of cup football but Fleet and Leighton are still important games in the context of getting our league form back on track. Steve Bateman has a dilemma on his hands in who he chooses to play Saturday and Tuesday, given the imminent Mansfield match. Will he rest James Warrington at Leighton? Will he start with Sean Sonner and Ben Abbey for both matches? Does he take the option of playing some of our fringe squad players in defence, given the importance of Brown,NBH and Wooz,to our defence. Will Steve Sinclair get some game time, given that he will be needed for Cup duty[probable sub appearance] but where can he accomodate him with Jake Parsons in fine form in the league? I'm intrigued to see what SB decides to do. Anyone care to name their Slough line ups for Fleet and Leighton games.
Mr Rebel
tricky one as the league is mighty important as we cannot afford many more major slip-ups. gut feeling would be that we will see minimal changes tomorrow and depending on how that goes maybe a couple more Tuesday although that on paper is the tougher game compared to tomorrow of course. most positions can be changed without particularly weakening the team majorly
readingrebel
With some players desperately needing some game time this is a very tricky one for SB. If you read some of the players Tweets the assumption is that SB will go with the same starting 11 that beat Gosport. My personal feeling is that the same 11 players have had 2 very hard scraps against Gosport in a short space of time and for them to go out tomorrow and do the business is maybe a step too far. I would freshen things up a bit and include Sean Sonner, Jake Parsons, Adam Logie and Ashley Deeney in Tomorrows starting 11. I would keep the centre of defence and the front pairing together because those positions are all about having an understanding. If SB doesn't do it tomorrow I think he will definitely do it on Tuesday against Leighton bearing in mind Saturdays game and the fact that I don't think Mansfield have a midweek game. 3spirit
For Fleet game I would go 4-4-2 with Warrington A.Deeney Brown NBH Murphy Parsons Perkins Logie Rhone Sonner Smith Subs:Abbey,Bateman,D.Deeney,Swift,Burnell[for Smith 2nd half.] Resting Wooz and Burgess. The Leighton game is much more difficult to call and would have to be an experimental squad line-up with fringe players and a couple of reserve players in it or on the bench.Maybe see if you could entice Simon Sweeney back for one-off game playing as a centre back, or try to get Liam Fowler in on loan.Certainly wouldn't play any of my first choice 11 for Mansfield trip against Leighton, the whole 90 minutes. If any would be 1st half run outs for maybe Rhone,Burgess and Fraser
Chris
I'd be amazed to see too many changes over the two games, and as for Leighton i'd be amazed and hugely disappointed if we did not play our strongest line-up. I can understand a few changes today as we've had two hard games against Gosport, so we may change things a little to freshen things-up. So for example I think Parsons will defintely come back in following his good performance against Barton and can also see Logie, Sonner and Deeney starting, but historically the manager never changes things too much so it would never shock me to see the same eleven as Tuesday. As for Tuesday at Leighton over past seasons we all know what a tough place Leighton is to visit. We always have tough games there. Won 1-0 last season, lost 3-1 the season before that and won 1-0 the season before that. Despite the excellent FA Cup run we can't take our eye off the ball with the league as I still believe we will not get a better chance of going up than this season, and we are already playing catch-up so we need to stay in touch with the leading pack. Points are vital.
Matt
I wouldn't be surprised if Burnell was benched today, he's been running himself into the ground recently. It would give a chance for Sonner to come back in. Bates might also be tempted to play Ashley Deeney in place of Fraser, though Parsons will probably come back in too, so not sure how that'll work. I cannot see the three centre halves and goalkeeper being dropped though. And I agree with Chris, we must go to Leighton with what Bates considers his first-choice eleven. Windsor Rebel
I doubt if SB will change the team around for todays game against Fleet. Obviously, no one will know what the team will be against Leighton (including SB) as we may pick a few knocks today and need to rest players. Any player at this level should be able to manage two games a week against any oppostion
