Great Day Yesterday

What an excellent day, started off with couple of pints in the BH before the game befor moving onto a quick drink in the clubhouse just prior to k.o.

Then onto the terrace where the younger Chins fans were in good voice.

Thanks to the one of who let my mate wear the pig's head for a laugh, couple of quick beers at half time, back on the terrace where my mate had now got hold of the drum and by that time we were leading the sing song.

My favs being "Stevie Jones, West Ham Legend." I was there at WHL when we beat them 4-1 and Jonah scored a beauty and my other fav, "Your just a West country Inbred."

Back in the bar after the game for more beers and red wine (Bad idea) and the F.A Cup draw. Can it possibly be played on a Sunday, WH home to WBA that day.

Watched the Hammers in the bar and met Urchinette and Uncle Urchin, both very hospitable, especially Unc who bought us all beer. Cheers!

If the BBC decide to televise the game then it should be played on a Sunday. Very big if mind as there are some 40 other draws they could show.

I maybe a little biased saying this but I think that this should be the one televised as it has the making of a great fairytale. A team who just a couple of years ago were getting attendances of just 50 are now playing host to a reasonably famous lower league side in the FA cup first round for the first time in their history. Some ex league players and a good chance of an upset. Has all the ingredients.

Top day indeed Nige, great singing! Excellent terrace banter as well and a p*ss up to end all p*ss up's in the bar afterwards! Thats what footy is all about!

Would be nice if the Beeb or Sky were to televise it, should hear in the next couple of days I suppose! Then, there's the tickets to sort out, would it be all-ticket or not, temporary stands putting up........

Who would have thought it! Great reward for everyone associated with the club.

Nigel D wasn't the one with the drum, that was another geezer. Blimey, he banged that drum non stop second half, but all added to the atmosphere!

Urchinman and Psyco Monkey, we need more of that from your crew when these league boys come down here! I've been looking at their form, 5 defeats in a row for them, bet they aren't over the moon about having to play us. OK, we are two divisions below them, but we're at home and we've got nothing to lose. There would be no embarassment if they put us out, but if we were to do them, well thats another matter!

At first, when the draw came out, I thought OK, its a league team, we're at home, lets just enjoy it. But now thinking about it, I reckon we've got a chance to beat this lot. But, we need to fill the stadium to the rafters, loads of noise, lets create a real atmosphere. This is a great opportunity to get more new fans on board. I reckon maybe we should see if we can play it on the Sunday, what with West Ham being at home and I pack the ground with 5000 supporters!

That would be great.

We'll have plenty of singing, dont you worry about that.

But hopefully we'll have a nice full coach on saturday to take to W&F.

Dont eat there hot dogs though, i learnt my lesson last season.

There's two 5 a side pitches in the ground, and we were allowed to play on them before, so maybe a little urchin 5 a side befor the game.

The Fa Trophy is a cup well worth winning, so lets hope we do well.

What a great day it was. Enjoyed every bit of it and would like to do it all again but perhaps this time I'd try standing with the singing lot (different view etc). The draw in the bar was superb as was the pint of Foxes Nob!!!

Bring on the Darlington. Any Statto's out there? What is the biggest attendance at the ground?

Was a great day yesterday. Great atmosphere something that is special about the FA Cup. Certainly the draw was the funniest part. Whilst all you lot were waiting for the Urchins to come out of the hat, I was standing there with the andrenalin fully pumping hoping Canvey would get a good draw.

As Hornchurch came out of the bag with Darlington and the crowd started to dissappear, I surged to the front to get a better view of the TV. It seemed an eternity before we came out of the hat and I think I got a few dirty looks as I punched the air in delight with shouts of bring it on before realising where I was!

Certainly a moment I'll never forget!

Cheers for the hospitality yesterday. Was nice to finally meet the Uncle altough he must have found it a bit weird I was carrying a can of anti-freeze in my hand! Don't ask OK!

All in all a thoroughly good day!

3000...that's a decent crowd, gate receipts of say GBP15,000 (lots of kids and pensioners). I think we should sell tickets at the normal price and increase on the day ticket prices to say GBP10.00. This will not affect regulars but increase the takings a bit (Darlington will be used to paying more and so will all those West Ham supporters who come down occasionally).

But all tickets are bought on the day! Increase the price to £10? Don't you think that will be a big 'middle finger' to all those who turn up regularly but didn't know about the change in price? <img src="/images/graemlins/mad.gif" alt="" /> That's not a very nice idea.

As for the televised game, I reckon Saafend v Canvey will have a chance of being picked as it'll probably be quite a hard fought match going by previous encounters - including the pre-season 'friendles'!
