How many CCL players also play on Sundays?

A Windsor "supporter" I know has been telling me it's crazy that we have to pay to watch CCL footballers when a lot of them play pub football with their mates on a Sunday, which he believes is of similar standard to CCL.

He is perfectly serious. I'm thinking this is complete BS but maybe not.

Can you enlighten me please?

Sunday football is and always will be glorified pub football. Leagues are generally poorly organised, games start at 10:30 (the majority if time) and is just played for a laugh IMO.....although not quite so funny when you are on the end of a late and rather dangerous tackle by some lunatic that still stinks of the previous nights booze!! In my experience the lads that play Saturday and Sunday will suffer from injuries by playing on a Sunday (on poor park pitches and against poor overweight players), and until they changed the rules last season, bookings from Sunday football would always count towards Saturday games and I know a lot if clubs suffered by this (hence why the rules were changed).

You may find that the odd team is made uP of some very good CCL players who would otherwise be opponents on a Saturday, very strange!!!

chubbys right the standard is poor an your more than likely to get injured by a clumsy drunk fella smashing you on a sunday i do play occasionally but only when i need fitness or when im banned keeps the old legs ticking over ;)

Couldn't think of anything worse than playing on a Sunday!!

Redders this can only mean you go to church on a Sunday. I knew you were a clean living lad, that Twitter site must be a spoof. You definitely have to sign for GFC as the church rules Sundays over here.

Sundays were always meant for pubs and working mens clubs who had players that were supporters on a saturday and weren't good enough to make the grade at a decent level,I have said on here before there are many rules to stop CCL players and above from competing in some of these Sunday leagues but the various leagues choose to ignore these rules, anyway who would want to play on a Sunday if there is a mid week match that means you would be playing Saturday Sunday and Tuesday/wednesday and maybe Friday its impossible to give 100 per cent with that sort of schedule

there are a good few sunday teams in the london and south east area that would easily beat all bar a few ccl prem sides and quite frankly would be ryman standard. if you havent seen the standard of the morden and district, hackney and leyton, orpington and bromley, kopa leagues then you are judging sunday football by the piss poor standard it is around here. you would be VERY surprised just how good sunday football is i think.

Do you really believe this, I think you are deluded I played for some really good Sunday teams who were full of lads with talent but they just couldn't give that extra bit when it came to playing at a decent level on a saturday,it has to be remembered that a lot of these lads would have tasted Saturday football and have shyed away for one reason or another(normally don't like to train)its easy if you are quite good to look like a world beater if you are playing against people who are not that good,if you get a team of mates who are decent then on a Sunday you will win most things I know I've done it myself.

  • 2 weeks later...

I played Sunday premier division (3 different leagues) back in the 70's and 80's and I would have put two of those sides as better as any in the CCL today!

Mind you, we were all contracted to play Saturday's!
