Mansfield Town away - dress code suggestion!

You'll find that they turn a blind eye to the home fans standing at times though...just to really annoy you. Although one of them did carry out the finest spear tackle I've ever seen a few years back on an Oxford fan who invaded the pitch!

Must be something to do with the Plod in that part of the country. When Watford played at Nottingham Forest last year the stewards were going mental trying to a few Watford fans to sit down when a dozen Police/stewards completely ignored the 2-300 Forest fans who were all standing in the stand to our left.

Reminds me of when I went to a game at St Mary's and sat with the noisy lot behind the goal a couple of years ago. The stewards would work their way up the stand row by row to get people to sit down, which worked until something vageuly interesting happened when everyone would stand up again and the stewaeds would have to start again from the bottom. I'm pretty sure they never made it to the top!

I hope that your stewards will use a bit of common sense.

You would hope...but I have seen them make it to the very back row and make them sit down! You really don't want to end your afternoon in an arm lock with the West Stand upper singing "Cheerio, Cheerio".

You'll be fine when the team comes out, and when you score (can you tell I'm confident?), but as for singing...don't count on it!

If you ever try and challenge them (not just Mansfield but I'm sure they're the same as all the others) then they typically come out with two arguments. Either "it's the ground regulations" which doesn't actually answer the question or it's the nonsense argument about Health & Safety. Why is is perfectly safe to stand up before a game, at half-time during a game and at the end of the game but not whilst the football is being played?!

Almost as bad as not being able to hang your flag over the hoardings because it upsets the sponsors!!

I'm sure you'll be fine - but they aren't known for their tolerance, so just don't push your luck.

As for the flag - over the hoarding, probably not, but they're usually pretty good if you talk to them nicely - they'll often let you set them up in a section of unused seats.
