Travel to Mansfield

Hi, Me again - just catching up on this thread.

Yes - the stadium is all seater, and as I've just posted on the dress code thread, you may not be in the North Stand.

We do play in amber and blue - but will confuse the issue by chanting "Yellows, Yellows!". You could pick up a nice amber and blue bar scarf from our club shop...?

Finally - Culture....none of you have been to Mansfield before, have you?

For culture, Andy, they will be referring to the local drinking establishments. As for amber and blue bar scarves, that's a great idea. I wish we sold those!

...I'd gathered - sore point - our excellent Mansfield Brewery was taken over by Wolverhampton & Dudley (now Marston's) and then closed - the beer (now brewed elsewhere) hasn't been the same since!

I'd tend to stay away from the town centre proper...although there are about 20 pubs in close proximity around the Market Place and surrounding streets.

I'd be inclined to try the Talbot on Nottingham Road (A60), opposite Sainsbury's, which is friendly enough, or the Rushley, which is a further 10 minutes walk up the hill, but is more family friendly. If you're coming down the A38, try the John Cockle or the Bold Forester.

IAN I hope you are joking " I wish we sold these !!!!!!!!"

I have loads of them in the club shop, only thing is I think we could do with some Green and white ones now !!!

I'll be wearing my Slough Town scarf (bought from the online shop) for the first time on the 3rd. Looking forward to it. :)

Just a pity Slough will be playing green (Hibs' colour) :o

For the guy travelling from Edinburgh regarding train times. If you miss the train in Mansfield just after the match finishes then I suggest you catch the bus to Chesterfield (5.55 to 6.35) where 'your' train calls at Chesterfield at 1903hrs. The bus takes 40 minutes. A taxi would be only about £20 and takes about 25 to 30 minutes.

Trains on Saturday from Edinburgh to Chesterfield are every hour with no need to change. If you don't mind the 40 minute bus journey then I suggest it would be easier and perhaps cheaper.

Regarding away fans, stewards are much friendly this season (different company) and I can't see why you will not be in the North Stand behind the goal. Forest Green only bought 60 and Braintree 32 and it was open, so your 'more than 100' will be fine.

Our top goalscorer is now suspended for the game after picking up a last minute booking on Friday night.

Best place and easiest place to drink is the supporters bar at the ground.

I understand from people at yesterday's game that Mansfield are not allowed to serve alcohol in their bar as its an fa cup game.

Given this, what's the plan when the coach arrives? Coach number 2 is where the party is at :)

Also, I assume that we will have to queue up to buy a ticket at the box office and then queue up again to get in, kind of like at mk dons a few years ago
