Gosport 1-2 Slough

I can confirm that being there was bloody nerve racking, especially when the fourth official announced five minutes of stoppage time.

First half we weren't in it. Gosport controlled the game and we were second to everything. They got a goal from a free kick that should not have been given. I'm not sure what changed in the second half other than once we got the goal their confidence dropped and ours visibly improved. The second goal was brilliantly worked by Ed Smith and Danny Angel Burnell.

Awesome support from about 80 Rebels fans tonight and a great reaction from the players at the end. Very hospitable and friendly crowd at Gosport.

Video footage to be online in the next 20 minutes or so including plenty from the end of game celebrations.

So, so proud tonight and really wish Sliski could have been there to enjoy that one. That one's for you big bear.

Also, a note of congratulations to Yate Town tonight who went to top of Conference National side Newport County and unbeaten at home and won 3-1. Yate are bottom of our equivalent division. Proof it can be done for the 3rd November.

Yes well done to Yate, a great result for them.

I agree with Ian, very nerve racking. Despite the best efforts of the referee, we managed to produce a fantastic performance second half. Their goal should never have stood, it was a clear foul on James, especially when you consider that Brown got booked for less than that on Sunday, and that the ref gave them a free kick for minimal contact with the keeper early on. We weren't really in it, but second half the performance was great, defending well and getting those two good goals from Dom and Danny (who was excellent all night).

Well done to the whole team for getting through to the First Round Proper, it is certainly the non-league dream and we are there!! COYR!!! So proud to be a Rebel tonight!

Unfair to pick a MOM as it was another solid TEAM performance. The TEAM seems so much fitter than last season.

After the away performances at Margate & Gosport I'm even starting to like our grotty away strip.

Lets hope we can transfer our CUP performances into our league games.

Fair call Peter, it was an immense team performance. Great grit and determination. But once again thought Danny Burnell's all round performance was immense and he got the winner so he edges the MOM for me. Excellent stuff in the second half though

Ha ha Pete, well I think our boys look great in that grotty green away kit and I will have plenty on sale Saturday so that it can be worn in force at Mansfield.

A Margate fan put on their website that he was gutted to be beaten by crappy Slough, well mate, so called crappy Slough did it again and they were brilliant !!

Fantastic result well done to all the team absolutey brilliant night.

No voice, shattered, but that was so worth the trip to be there for one of those magic moments. Supporting Slough for the past decade have been hard work at times. Slough supporters deserved that last night.

Getting in the first round puts the club on the map and has got to be good for not only for the coffers but for focusing minds on our new ground.

Well done players, Steve Bateman and all the background staff and volunteers that make the club tick and all us supporters and of course Steve Easterbrook.

It was fantastic reading all the twitter reaction on the way back. The only tinge of sadness on the whole night was that Mr.Slough Town Chris Sliski couldn't be there.

PS And well done to Yate Town showing that clubs at our level can beat teams in the Conference.

I know Ian, I did text Kay last night to see if she had his number so we could ring him and say 'hard luck'.

There’s a thread on the Margate forum entitled “Smallest club left in the biggest cup competition” which goes onto say….”Is Slough town, it should have been us”.

Well it isn’t! We beat you and there’s no guarantee you’d have beaten Gosport either. I think it’s going to be close run thing between the Margate fans and the Gosport manager for the ‘Misplaced FA Cup Bitterness Award”.
