Rayners Lane tonight

I take it the 'Help for Heroes' Middlesex Charity Cup match at Rayners Lane is still on tonight?

Club News on the website confirms this but the Fixture List hasn't been updated and is showing the original date of next week. On the Rayners Lane FC site, the Fixture List shows tonight's game but their 'next fixture' on the homepage shows as being on Saturday! Methinks the crowd might be quite small.....

Has anybody been to Rayners Lane's ground before? Not one I recall going to before.

Time to get back to winning ways.

I have 4 goals for hammatt and none for Kirby - Club twitter says 3 for Hammatt and one for Kirby...

So who is right - my instinct is to trust Martin and go for Hammatt - 4....

Answers gentle readers....

Town's trip to Rayners Lane for the Middlesex Charity Cup 1st Round tie in October 2012 equalled a few club records – winning 8-1 which was our joint highest number of goals in a competitive match! (Waltham Abbey a IL 16.10.07). It also equalled the margin of victory matching the 7-0 win over Ilford in an ESL game in October 2003.

On top of that our oldest ever scorer Bryan Hammatt scored 4 goals and equalled Lee Smith’ effort against Concord Rangers in another ESL match in October 2004.

Other goals scorers were Liam Hope (2), Mitch Hahn and David Kendall. Rayners Lane goal came with the last kick of the match. It was a pity only 68 were there to see it!

A welcome win for The Town last night - hopefully that should give the lads the confidence boost they needed to take that form into the FA Trophy on Saturday.

The quality of the opposition wasn't up to Ryman Prem standards but you can only beat what's put in front of you and the quality of the finishing would have beaten many a keeper at a higher level. James Chalk had a good game in goal when called upon and it was good to see Phil Kane getting some game time and looking as useful as he was before his injuries.

Joe Stevens picked up a knock from a nasty challenge - I hope he's not out for long.

You had to feel sorry for Rayners Lane - they certainly worked hard without much reward but they simply came up against a better team on the night. Wonder if that was the same 11 that won two of their last four games 10-0 and 7-0?!

I wasn't too impressed with the ref and two of our goals came from questionable free kicks.
