TAKING ACTION TO HELP OUR CLUB

Getting promoted was fantastic and the first season in a new league is always going to be a challenge. So far, most of our performances have been good and in my view we have deserved to take more from games than we have. I also believe that if we can maintain our current squad that we can do well.

As the club have previously said we do need to improve income to keep what we have got – and, with the current crowds, my personal view is that the time when this starts to impact on the players we have, must be coming closer.

I know times are tough for everyone with money and time being increasingly tight – but I believe that we need to try and show our support for the club by providing them with increased/renewed positive action.

In my opinion we need to:

- Pull together to undertake an improved, concerted, campaign to properly promote the club’s November & December home fixtures (to see if this can bring any additional fans in)

- Positively encourage lapsed fans (or potential fans) that any of us know to attend upcoming games

- Respond, in any way we can, to any additional fund raising activities that the club proposes or endorses

So first of all, please can urchins fans post here any pledges of support/action to help with a promotional campaign for November & December fixtures including helping to put up posters or distributing leaflets in shops, pubs, clubs, noticeboards, schools, homes, etc.

Please post what you can do.

I took this from another chairmans notes on a conversation regarding Truro but I think it can be used here to possibly get fans etc to understand what clubs are up against.Hopefully he won't mind me putting this on here but I think it speaks sense.

"I know a bit about running a football club, and it is far more difficult that any new owner thinks. I thought I could turn our club around in 3 to 4 yrs...it took 7 long years and a strong will to succeed

So many think its as easy as, put in a few quid, win a few promotions, the fans will flock in and advertises will be falling over themselves to give you money.. Bob's your Uncle, football League beckons.

But the harsh reality is, if it isn't earnt. it isn't sustainable."

Thank you to Hornchurch O for agreeing to print some posters of the November games (when the November poster is made available on here in the near future) and to bring them to the Chelmsford game on the 30th October so we can start to distribute them
