WORST CLUB EXPERIENCE

Doorknob

It's a terrible thing to say, but on occasions I have heard foul language and and abuse from parents at youth matches as well, usually directed at the (young) officials !.

I have many myself but the best one, well worse was when I were about 17 yrs old and played an away game at a club called moonshot athletic in lewisham. One of our players had recently passed his driving test and been saving all his life for this supped up escort RS turbo. We got smashed up on the pitch and the poor lads motor got smashed up in the car park. I remember he actually shed some tears that day and don't think I ever saw him again on a football pitch !!!

A couple spring to mind

Southwark Sports in the London Spartan League, was standing behind the goal as normal with a couple of ground hoppers when the goal keeper turned to us a told us to ??? off if we did not go he would kill us. He was high on drugs and when the chairman came round to see us we thought he had come to say sorry. He comment was you had better move because hill will get you and smash you up! Only time in football I have watched the second half of a game in my car with the engine running. A couple of weeks letter they attack another team the police were called and they were locked in the changing room so the other team could get away. Great news when they were thrown out of all football.

Redhill F.C.used to be a friendly club with good poeple running it, now its run by a group of small minded people who do not care about supporters or anybody else such a shame as it was such a good club.

A certain Combined Counties League Club who will not let you into the ground till about 15 minutes before kick off! So if you do not go into club house you have to wait in the car park!

Playing on the astro turf at the Feltham Arena!

The good old days!

A couple for me stick out!

Playing for Cove years ago and travelling to Feltham Arena, only for the game to be called off due to high wind and the Ref wasn't happy with the state of the astro. Game re-arranged for the following week and then turning up only to find out the little chavs around there has stolen the middle strip of the astro turf that ran from goal line to goal line! Eventually getting the game played on the Tuesday night and I scored a penalty, only to slip as I struck the ball and smack my face of the hard ground, slightly cutting my head open :(

Second one was in 2009 (Kroons will know this one) and I was playing for Feltham against Mole Valley. The manager Cecil had been in charge for about 4-5 weeks and he'd totally lost the respect of some players. On the Thursday a lot of the lads said they were going to play with the ressies and stuff the first team and Cecil, some also said they were leaving or not playing until the manager had gone. I genuinely thought they were all mouth and bluffing, until only 5 players, including myself were there at 2.20. I popped back in for a rub during the warm up and asked Cecil where everyone was, he hadn't even realised no one was there!!

After some panic he did some ringing and found people had gone to the reserve game, turned their phone off or just abused him back down the phone. Eventually we got 3 players from the reserve game down the road that already had started and we had to start the game with 8 men and yours truly in goal. We held out and almost dominated the first 10 minutes, but the floodgates opened about 25 minutes in and we lost 12-0! We did however finish the game with 11 men and one on the bench after players were ordered to come back after the reserve match had finished!!

Very odd experience! Safe to say, the manager was sacked after this day!

now i know cecil he came to sports a couple of seasons back now hes no manager but would bend over backwards to help our manager at the time hes one of those people that are willing to do anything for the club just dont put him in charge!! we played rayners lane an he was managering the ressers i was getting the lads ready doing the warm up an he was nowhere to be seen, players getting the hump so i went in the changing room an hes there with a bit of paper with all the names written down scratching his head i mean its not rocket science to pick a side i told him who to put where then he goes " yeah thats what i thought" priceless . we lost 3 nil but only had 10 for last 20 when they scored there first as a player got injured an wed used our subs!!!

i actually liked cecil not a clue mnagerial wise but a dogsbody clubs need them sort of people

Remember it well Wattsy. Never have I had to hurry a keeper up whose team was losing about 7-0 at the time !!!! There I was at one point desperatly trying not to send off your CB when you only had 8. Most bizarre thing was at the end when the manager and coach abused myself and my 2 assistants calling us a disgrace and we should never be allowed to officiate at that level again. I did say for him to come back to me when he could muster 11 up for a game. To be fair Feltham we were apologised to immedaitely in the dressing room by the Secretary and as ever were looked after in the bar.

I think for me it was more as a player than a spectator but I remember playing for Croydon FC and we had just lost, the Gaffa at the time Dixon gill was giving out the wages in the bar in little white envelopes he then called me personally and said here u go mate there's ya wages I opened it and it was a empty envelope, I then sai what's this and he said u haven't earned ya wages this week... Safe to say I never played again lol in hindsight was quite funny and that's what makes mr gill the legend he is!!!

Phil probably Grandads fault you never got paid,a game I shall never forget either,a cold night at The Arena December 5th 2009.On entering the ground Dixon said Pete how would you like to be our kitman, sure Dixon was my reply,he then gave me a brand new Tracksuit Top,still in the wrapping.I Then put all the Kit out on the pegs, went out to get a Cuppa. On returning someone had pilfered my new top,a person by the name of Ollie Young, looked quite smart with it on.He did give me it back though, but I never got to wear it.Croydon where leading 1-0 at h/t,first h/t team talk I had ever been part of,The keeper,r/b,Centre Half were all slated by the great man,he then asked me if I had any opinions,I was in shock, but being my way,I did give my opinion. The only way Colliers Wood were going to score was from a set piece,so advised that a good way to stop this was for your goodself,to come back for Corners,as you were a big presence in the air.Imagine my delight when you came back for the first 2 corners, and cleared the danger, with towering headers,a Management job maybe?Alas it was not to last, when the 3rd Corner was given, think you forgot your role, and were standing idly on the halfway line, the inevitable happened,Colliers scored with a header.Totally your fault in my opinion,no discipline shown. You will be glad to know that I resigned from the Kitman job the very same evening,my reason NOT MONEY,but I believe that when your winning 1-0, and not playing great, players need encouraging, rather than slating, think that way you get the best out of them.So you cost me my kitman job,I shall never forgive you. :D What a favour you did me. GRANDAD.

I was using the allocated time per goal kick! Think I had more touches than anyone on both teams put together ;)

Made some worldies too eh!

Indeed you did :) It was also one of those rare games that absolutely no stoppage time was played in either half. I remember when your CB bought down the forward when clean through for the penalty. I can remember calling the skipper over and saying "Look if I send him off I will have to abandon the game and you will have to replay it later when they have 11. You ok if I just give a Yellow" Also had to explain that to a certain manager who was going nuts about me not sending him off.

Hahaha brilliant! Remember it all too well!

To be fair, even though we lost 12-0 and player with 8 men for 80 minutes, I was happy that we all gave it a go and shows what loyal people there at the time actually did. Saved the club from getting a massive fine for more than one count!

I know Jay Holden from Mole Valley was happy that I wasn't marking him and kicking him for the 90 minutes for once

And if you remember the CB then did a late challenge about 5 minutes later on the edge of the box !!! almost like he was trying to get sent off. Fair play to your 8 lads they put up a right battle and it couldnt have been easy to face it in the 2nd half.
