Doom and gloom is lifted by winning. Winning breeds contentment and thus less frustration less swearing and a nicer atmosphere.

Can I just put a suggestion forward can we have a no farting rule in the stand the bloke in front of me dropped his guts more than once in the lewes game much to his friends amusement.

My experience would have been much improved with out this.

Listen, there is some real simple stuff here. We're trying to create an inclusive environment at the club and 1 factor is the use of bad language. I just don't see a downside of rasing the issue of bad language and for the club to be seen to be trying to do something about it. Just becasue nothing is seen to be done about it elsewhere is no reason for us not to try to do so. In fact, the very debate that is now happening around the issue is a positive outcome (as the psycologist guy on the Radio Kent interview said).

And as I said in my interview and have posted elsewhere, as Cliff said last night on Meridian, the Choir have responded brilliantly.

There are lots of different aspects of the club that we are trying to improve - on the pitch (no, really ;) ) and off it, and creating a more family friendly enviornment is just one. And yes, the publicity has been really good for the club.

Men go to football to get away from their families. Always have, always will.

Funny that I first went to Hartsdown with my Mother, Father, Grandmother, Grandfather, Uncle, Brother and Sister, must have been the only family to sit in the North Stand (now called west). The other 3000 fans had no relatives in the ground at all.

ahem....I leave one son at home with his dad and attend with the other son (when he's been good) I admit I have used invective and expletives myself but I try really hard to curb this when the lad is with me or if there are other peoples children about.I think its just being aware round the kids.

Gonna put my ten penneth worth in now cos all this discussion on a very immotive subject is to say the least what we (the fans) do, we analyse, pick apart and then give our opinion not just how the team/manager are doing but the state of the club/economy etc etc. So when the club bring to the fore that they are going to clamp down on foul language in a "family orientated club" is to be applauded and whether you agree/dis-agree any publicity the club receives because of this stance can only be good.

Have I sworn at the Ref/Players even the Manager..... Hell yeah and in all honesty will probably continue and would be a hypocrite if I said I would never swear at a game again. The point of the clubs stance on this subject (I feel) is the prolific foul language when in the vicinity of small children, because as adults WE should know better. However I have heard said "Children" swearing with the best navvies in the world at our club and so I ask the question "If we as adults find it hard to curb our language at games, how the hell are you going to tell a lippy 12 year old to shhhhh or stop swearing", answers on a postcard........ to Cliff Egan... lol

Spot on with your point about "foul" language. Most of the press have focused on "swearing" but as we have said, we are realistic about what might be said on the terraces but do feel that we can build on the progress made and hopefuylly keep as many of our supporters as happy as possible.

Great initiative and totally supportive.

The club need to perservere though-this must not be a ten minute wonder-stick with it-and come back to it in a day, week, month and year.

Having achieved great publicity-the club must follow it through 'for life'.It can win the battle-but will take time-12 months and more-stick with it.

That given-having read the press release-of overriding importance to me is knowing whether Mar-GATOR is sadly no more -and has officially been replaced by 'shark'

Did in fact Mar-GATOR and Shark have an almighty fight and shark was the victor-or is Mar-GATOR simply still missing after two years wirhout a public sighting ?

stick with the initiative long term

Just as a side line I remember going to see Raith Rovers versus Aberdeen in Kirkcaldy. The best entertainment i've ever had and not from the football. If you can imagine Bernard Manning/Jimmy Jones/Chubby Brown with Billy Connelly the entertainment from the lassies were having me in stitches. Of course the whole attitude is to be aggressive in their vocal tones at a match but we at MFC are NO where as bad as others.

Is the compromise simply in the children's education make them aware they will hear swearing and to understand there are times when you may feel free to swear, but most of the time in social activities you should try and keep away from it..Its called being an adult. another compromise is I believe their are a few trigger swear words (we know what they are) which should be stopped, but a few that in the context of a match would be acceptable.

Just a thought....

couldnt be bothered to come today, quite happily admit to being a 'fair weather' fan, I pay my money and I want to be entertained

Interesting comment from an away fan

Really don't like the place though. Its always freezing, funny atmosphere in the ground and people wondering if they are going to be chucked out if they let a swear word out. Hardly an enjoyable way of relaxing after a hard week at work. Speaking to some of their supporters their club want to attract more families. How about bouncy castles and heaters and picnic tables around the ground. For christ sake its non league football.

I couldn't be botherd to turn up, the football has been woefull lately. With the weather turning people won't go unless there likely to see an entertaining game. Had I have turned up sat I would have been chucked out at the 86th min for uttering an obscenity!!!

Do many people seriously under-estimate the 'knock-on ' effect that going out of any of the cups has on league attendance/support ?

It keeps the interest going at all levels, and is another story to tell

watch ramsgates league attendances go up slightly as the progress further in the trophy-and yes i am annoyed and jealous
