start with the players not the fans

Sorry Pagey,

That's the most idiotic, stupid thing yet to appear on this forum. All that does is show how much you care for society in general.

At the end of the day, its a football club, not a bloody play school. Football is a passionate game, tempers will flare and obscenities will be shouted from time to time. If a tiny minority are offended by that then so be it, you can't please everyone.

thinking about this a bit more its down to personal preference. I think swearing within football is totally acceptable and when I go to a premiership match I go and drink in the louds pubs, try and get near the loudest fans and stay behind for a good booze up afterwards

. No doubt that there are people that go straight into the ground and sit in the quiet seats and sod off home straight afterwards

There are times when you can swear in life and times where I wouldnt even dream of it

Removing swearing from the terraces for me is a huge mistake

are people seriously trying to suggest that swearing isn't apart of normal society?

If people are really that concerned about their kids hearing swear words then please make sure that they never leave the house, not even for school, because whether you like it or not there is a very good chance that your kid is swearing at school or is hearing friends swear, who originally heard from their parents. You can't shield children from these things it is impossible and the club is wasting it's time in trying to get people to clean up it's act. The club is essentially asking a lot of people to change who they are and how the react to things to please a small percentage of the crowd. Will the club have same the stance on an away team that has a large away fanbase? No it won't and past events has proved that. Should we get back up in the conference and start seeing gates of over a 1,000 again will the club have the same stance? Highly unlikely

The atmosphere at Hartsdown Park has declined rapidly over the years and trying to create a false atmosphere will make things worse and will drive away people the have supporting the club for years, because Egan seems hell bent on attracting only kids and their parents through the turnstiles. Everyone except families hate sitting in family stands because they say "it's boring, there is no atmosphere." Whilst I see the business side of it, it won't work in the long run and away supporters won't want to come to HDP because they will not be allowed to act as freely as they are everywhere else in the country. However they won't know that away supporters actually have a different rule and are allowed to swear and threaten the home supporters as much as they like, especially if you are overweight and from South London

Also swearing isn't a sign of poor vocabulary, it's an expansive form vocabulary when the phrase of "you are a very below average referee" will not suffice

Obviously over extensive swearing from one person/group should be dumbed down a bit, but to try and put a stop to it is ridiculous and damaging

Slightly mystified by the publicity over this, Hartsdown does not resemble Cold Blow Lane circa 1974. If it did, we might win a few more home games.

And, of course, as the original poster pointed out, what action will be taken against a player who swears loudly?

Our players got a bit of abuse last night from the Canvey fans in the second half...and many of those who were doing it looked like schoolchildren. Let's be honest, children love swearing.

I have been up to watch spurs with pagey and the crowd there were animalistic full of swearing and that was just the lady fans!

Its part and parcel of our game I agree with excessive use infront of children but the odd the referee is a ...... And your s*** and u know u are I would say are not going to turn people away from the game or the club.

And in all honesty what planet do you live on if you cannot tolerate mild swearing.

I often go to watch Dagenham & Redbridge and before every match they announce that bad language will not be tolerated. They may have one of the lowest attendances in League one, but there is a far higher percentage of families with young children, (the next generation of supporters), than I have seen in non league grounds for years.

I'm no saint, but I would certainly never take my grandchildren to a game where I knew they was going to be subjected to bad language, yobbish behavior or even smoking.

A hearty three cheers for some enlightened people from Margate who are daring to be different, and even if it doesn't encourage new supporters it cant do any harm.

I for one am capable of making plenty of noise at a game without resorting to foul language whether it is in support of the football or against yet another nonsensical ref/linesman decision so let's please have the team perform well against Hastings on Saturday and get some momentum going.
