This message was sent via our Enfield Town FC Facebook, I thought all those connected with the club would like to read from our man in Afghanistan.

My lovely Enfield Town FC ... soon I shall be leaving the land of Afghanistan to return to the UK after a long 6 month tour with the British Army. Since arriving here in April, ETFC have been promoted to the Ryman Premier League and returned to the same level of competition that the old Enfield FC were in when I stopped watching them in 1999. I'm so very proud to support this club, and despite finding life a bit tougher in this division (remember - one step at a time, survival is the goal this season) I will be proudly standing amongst you all again on the terraces at Donkey Lane at our next Saturday home game (13th Nov). I very much look forward to seeing familiar faces at The Home of Football.

As some of you may be aware, I was injured back in June following insurgent activity whilst on patrol which resulted in me being evacuated via helicopter back to Camp Bastion field hospital where I underwent surgery on two seperate occasions. Following a period of rehabilitation, I successfully regained full fitness and returned to frontline duties with my Regiment - and am very proud to say that I completed my tour with my Regiment "properly".

I always keep one eye on ETFC whilst I'm out here - and win, lose or draw I'm always extremely proud to point at the Sky Sports News channel when our name appears on the league table and results section and tell everyone that "They're my local club!"

Pain is temporary, class is forever - my thanks go to the players, management, staff and supporters of ETFC who make our club what it is - so very special. I look forward to having beers with you all in Butler's Bar in a few weeks time to celebrate our inevitable 3 points (*cough*, fingers crossed).

Lee
