Gloucester Park - Is it all (concreted) Over?

Interesting story on page 11 of the Yellow Advertiser this week about Basildon Council's "visionary" plan to build a swimming pool with leisure and conference facilities and a medical centre at Gloucester Park on a site rather similar to the one we are trying to build on.

Do they know something we don't? One thing thats clear however is that they are going to build something on it come what may.

Dennis Swaysland (RAPE co-ordinator) said "If it is a genuine scheme to benefit the community then there is more chance we would support it."

Mr Swaysland is clearly some kind of (fill in own choice of word). Obviously he approves of council concrete and not ours. Sad man. Quite frankly I would much rather private industry paid for it (and retained the profit if any) rather than johnny taxpayer footing the bill yet again. Mr Swaysland or Mobrien should you choose to resurface how can you be so vocal against our plans but so luke warm against something that includes pool, leisure and conference facilities, medical centre,oh and shock horror a hotel. Your double standards defy belief.

You lot don't 'alf moan! It's a very good, carefully laid out plan.

Build this complex using public money, complain that there are insufficient funds for the 'essentials' such as schools and hospitals, increase your council tax rates, use extra money to go out on very important all expenses paid 'team-building'/business conferences in places like the Carribean or ski resorts in Switzerland and come back with a further deficit in the councils coffers (but, hey they now know how to tie knots and make phone calls).

This practice has been very successful in the council that introduced it. Just a few years ago, Hornchurch High Street added an extra 2 sets of traffic lights and put a barrier round most of the street to make sure shoppers couldn't rush out in a moment of mad suicidal panic (apparently this used to happen a lot). Rates went up. I can say what I want now I no longer live there! HA!!

But back to Mr Swaysland, enjoy your holiday(s).

Hmmmmm, should it really surprise us that anyone from Basildon, to not want something privately funded from a scheme, that would involve people from Billericay? I mean the council fleece the residants of Billericay enough to pay for other things that benefit the locals of that town and give Billericay nothing in return.

Mr. Dennis Swaysland must be really pleased for the Council to spend even more local money for something that he needs only to walk too. I believe it was him that was coming up with the argument that the stadium destroyed Green Belt land. HA!!! Now the Council want to spend taxpayers cash (if the stadium doesn't go through), he is happy to agree with another such similar scheme. What a hypocritical prat!!! If there ever is a hell for people like him, I hope he burns!!!

As for Mobrien, he is a Canvey Island supporter who lives in Basildon. Of course he doesn't want us there.

I would not agree to any plan by anybody to build anything on that land and neither would most residents. This is your pages and every time I pop up you all get a bit hot under so as I know that in a few days confirmation that the stadium will not be built on Gloucester I will leave you all to it.
