Billericay 1 St Albans 1

Well another game goes by and at least we have something to show for our endeavours this time.

I thought we just shaded it over the 90 mins but both sides had numerous chances to score and couldnt really argue with a draw at the end.

Thomas at the back looked a quality player (again) and I thought Steve Jones showed up well on his return to the starting XI. Jeckyl and Hyde from JJ and another goal from Danny Hockton.

We need to sort out our defending tho its still surprisingly poor considering we have a couple of defenders coaching the team, and I can't understand how we keep letting in goals from free kicks on the edge of the box. that's four in recent weeks. All going in the keepers side of the goal - bizarre!!

I just wish our players could get themselves over the finishing line confidence wise tho as we are no worse than a good percentage of the teams in this league.

Both sides were severely lacking in confidence, both missed open goals in a scrappy first half. 2nd half we started well and had a few decent openings before scoring the goal. Unfortunatley couldn't make the lead stick, and after they equalised they probably looked the more likely to get a winner. Thought Hunter had his best game for us with some nice passes, though he's not the ball winner we need in centre mid. Steve Jones did well down the right flank, and I thought we kept battling well. Hopefully (touch wood, fingers crossed etc) we can get +ve results in the two cup games coming up against Tilbury and Stanstead and get some confidence back in the side.

I felt were lucky not to have gone at least 1 down at half time with JJs poor kicking performance. I felt Marlon had probably his worst game yet. I felt if Jonah had a couple of the offside decisions going his way he might have got a goal but he does seeem to be getting caught offside rather a lot. On their goal I felt the wall didnt look at all organised. I think they will have to do some work on defending crosses as again they seemed unable to deal with any ball coming from the wing. After the goal I felt heads dropped and their looked like their would be just 1 winner lucky they hung for the point. I reckon if we have to beat Tilbury on Saturday as I doubt we can get a result their but Standsted hopefully wont be up to much and will be given a right kicking to restore some confidence in the team

it certainly wasnt a 'good result' but its stopped the losing run we have been on. Now the lads must try and build on this result. We still can climb up the table with a good run but we must start scrapping for our wins. We seem to give the ball away too easily and dont really put our foot in to get it back. We have never really replaced a ball winning type player like Martin Carthy was when he had a good goal scoring season.

We are relying way too much on Hockton to get our goals, who else is going to get us some goals? I agree that sat was Marlons worst game. he seemed to be suffering from a lack of confidence.

As for JJ, well he does makes the impossible look easy but keeps getting himself in a mess on simple things like putting his foot through the ball when getting a pass back.

Pretty much the result to expect considering we are out of form as they had just got a hiding. Lets hope the two cup games are positive results and will give the lads, and the supporters, the belief that we can get out of this mess.

I think it's another small step forward - having had a long run without either a win or a goal it was good to see both records ended. Since the Stortford "performance" we have improved, in most areas of the pitch. We've got to keep believing that we will pull ourselves up the table. We've got a break from the league now with a couple of cup games so let's hope we can make the most of it.
