Town 2 Cambridge City 4

With Richard Halle starting in the No 9 shirt, Town's lack of fire power up front was plain to see. Things brightened up when Glen Poole powered home on 40 minutes but our lead lasted only 2 minutes to leave it 1-1 at half time.

The second half was a horror show as City took less than a few minutes to take the lead. Then a Chris Wild howler let in a City forward who was brought down by Dale Brightly ,who was red carded. The penalty went in and within 5 minutes it was 4-1.

To be fair at this stage, Town started playing and Glen Poole pulled one back from the penalty spot.

Not a night to remember and Town's small squad are looking stretched - it could be a long hard season for us.

How many did Craig Hammond score for Cambridge City out of interest

Awful nights sleep. Had a nightmare that we'd conceded 4 goals at home to lower league oppo, had Dale red carded and exited the FA Cup. Oh, hang on a minute...

A night we will want to forget. A novel team selection, presumably forced on us by circumstances beyond our control. But even the "stable" Defence looked woeful at times.

Not sure where the much needed confidence boost is going to come from.

Next up Dorchester; another tough one. Looks like we may have at least one new signing up front, but think a bit of tinkering may be needed elsewhere too.

Been here before & will probably be here again,

Scored no 3 from the pen, then added no4 and also hit woodwork. Bryant scored the other two for City

He's frightening isn't he, God knows why he's wasting his time at Step 3!

Both Craig Hammond and Zac Barret were the stand-out players for city, Cliff.

Gutted to go out and the second half was a shambles best forgotten, but I'm proud of how we do things. No excuses, and brave decisions made.

Its gone now, time to look forward, there is at least one new face for Saturday, and I wouldn't be surprised to see one or two more.

C'MON YOU BLUES !!

Great opportunity missed. The exposure a cup run can provide is disappointing to miss out on. After the first half display looked like there was only going to be one winner. However, we turned up in the second half looking like we believed that and were second to everything from then on. Really need to cut out these needless mistakes game after game.
