dannyriding
without moaning /slagging off the team or management what would you as a supporter change to the setup we are currently playing - maybe its something simple or maybe there is more to the bad performances we are churning out lately. To be fair to CK he did say that we would lose some games and not play so well sometimes........ irony eh

SteveB
Bodkin needs a run in the side. There were two people out there tonight that he should have come on for the last two Saturdays and tonight. Saturday he should have been on for Stubbs instead of Rhodes. Also, we offered nothing until just before they scored when we suddenly upped the tempo and went for it. Try that for the first 10 minutes of the game and put the fear of Christ into the opposition, instead of plodding along for 60 minutes.

Agree with score first and with Bodkin, not sure that young Whitnell is better than Ryan Dolby but what do I know eh
michael
endeavour to release a couple of the wide players-or as cookie calls them-the 'flair' players=take a pragmatic approach-get an ugly 6 foot ball winner in midfield who can slow down the tempo and get a greater element of possesion. win ugly-you don't need to entertain-just win at any cost

blue balls
For me I'd always start with Rook(if fit) and Murphy ahead of Whitnell. Bodkin needs a start and I'd have Alaile in for Ball. We had such a great start to the season maybe many of us got too high expectations. Reality is we are a young side and a completely different one from last season. We were fortunate to get a point at Hastings and to win at Bognor. This is a very competitve league with some decent teams who have more experience than we do so I feel it is unrealistic to expect us to finish top or in the play offs (I hope to be proved wrong, however). What is disappointing is that we seem to have resorted back to kick and hope and are just conceding possession all the time. We have players capable of a good attacking and passing game and demonstrated this in earlier games. Without possession you don't create chances and win games. Agree that we are still lacking an experienced ball winner in central midfield someone with good leadership qualities.
marksandwell
Look at the combination of the players that have played when winning and loosing, does this give any indication. (question rather than a statement)

His performance on Saturday was one of the worst I can remember and I can't say I have been impressed overall. I would love to be proved wrong! blueblood
I would start last nights team with the exception of Bodkin for Rhodes. If I felt the need to change it as CK did last night then it would have been Rhodes for Long. I watched Tommy Whitnell( according to the match reports team list, was not out there last night)closely last night, his chest control and turns are second to non, if he had taken his chance then....... I know "Micheal" goes on about midfield "but" he is right. The second position that in my mind, which needs strengthening is left back. PS. Just looked at the league table. Am i right in thinking there are only 2 relegation spots this year, not four shown.
Coffin Ender
"Without possession you don't create chances and win games." In the Premier League, yes, but not at this level. I have seen countless Ryman League games where the team who has most possession loses. If someone had told us at the start of the season that we would, on October 10, be one point behind the league leaders with a game in hand, we would all have been delighted. It's a wide open league and there will be many twists and turns.
Porka
We're still well placed in the table, so I'm a little surprised by the level of despair on here. For a moment put aside the disappointment of the past ten days and consider that we have a big game Saturday. Last year's matchup at Hartsdown was great entertainment. Thinking about last night again, we had five excellent chances to open the scoring, to Concord's one meaningful chance, before the first goal went in. We weren't playing well but were most definitely unlucky.
Dutch_Mike
Last night certainly wasn't as bad as some are suggesting. I'd argue that we played worse against Enfield, and yet still won. Ironically, if our ONLY (yes, that's right, we've had one) league defeat of the season had come at home to Lowestoft, or away to Kingstonian, we'd still be on the same number of points, and we'd all probably be very happy. CK has always stated that the team won't get too carried away when they win, and won't get too despondent when we lose. I think us supporters need to take a leaf out of his book. Yes, it's been a disappointing 10 days or so but, on the whole, it's been a positive start to the season. Re: the original thread, I'd revert back to the partnerships that, in the run up to and including the Maidstone game, only saw us beaten once. Central defence of Beales & Alaile, midfield of Stubbs & Avery, forward line of Rook & Whitnell. The criticism of Whitnell is beyond me. As soon as Rook was on last night, their link-up play started created things straightaway. Roll on Saturday where we can get back to winning ways
DEREK
I'd give DP a rest at full back (not his best position) play MA there as he did against Sittingbourne. Femi a good solid defender, in for Ball Dolby for Stubbs/Rhodes If Long is unfit then CK should climb down from wherever he and give Bodkin a go. Finally if Starkey is unfit Ball to left back. For me my personal opinion would play with some experience on the wings ie Bodkin and Rhodes, as the younger two of Murphy and Dolby seem to have been sussed out with their play that they seem to be in it solely for themselves and not as a unit (shooting from anywhere). Murphy seems to run into dead end streets each game and cannot get out the corner, Concord obviously did their homework and nulified him all game. As for the front pairing I would remain Rook and Whitnell as there you have experience, heigth and skill and hopefully a winning combination. blueblood
Rook? / Whitnall OK if Rook is fit. Didn't look it Saturday. Play both Bodkin and Murphy on the wings. Give the defence a headache.Hit them with pace. For this we have to use the full pitch and it will stretch them. When you see a entertaining game as the one last night, it's OK. It is acceptable to loose the odd one. The 2 cup games, unacceptable. I do not agree Murphy was nullified. Can we please have someone on or coming into the back post at set pieces. Your hopeful "Bill in USA". Very impressed with the Concorde no7.
