Thatcham

Thought it was after the Lord Mayor's show again when we went behind but we ran out comfortable winners in the end against a limited side. Good to see a first goal for Parsons and another brilliant performance from Danny Burnell.

A special mention should also go to the Thatcham number three who has made an early claim to be Tom Daley's partner at the Rio Olympics.

The number 3 was an absolute imbecile who dived like s clown and didn't really play much better. At 3-1 myself and Martin discussed that the onf thing that could make the evening better was to see him sent off. So I'd like to thank him for duly obliging.

On the subject of our performance it wasn't the most fluid I've ever seen but it was more than good enough and in Danny burnell we have a player who is truly on top of his game. Never stopped running, his touch (which sometimes worries me) was excellent and he made the right decisions to pass or shoot when in their box. Notable mentions also to Ollie burgess and Sean Fraser who both put in typically energetic performances.

Can't make Saturday but hoping to find a way of getting out of work got the gosport game, in my opinion they're not s great side but they do seem to have some hold over us. As Ian says in another thread I think Bateman needs to gee them up by showing them articles from gosport who think they're already through and I firmly believe the first goal will be vitally important. They get it and we will be thinking here we go again but if we get it we will start to believe and we have our back 3 and Warro in great form from margate. Maybe we will be the ones facing Portsmouth, Coventry. Sheffield united or even Wycombe!!!

A very comfortable second half where we created loads of chances.

It was nice to score a goal from a corner - even though we were ably assisted by a Thatcham defence deciding Nathan was not worth marking.

Jake Parsons did well when he came on with a goal plus an assist.

Danny Burnells marathon training is turning him into one of the fittest players at the club - his running on and off the ball last night was excellent.

Without detracting from the TEAM performance I thought Sean Fraser & Ed Smith have settled into the team very well.

I was also impressed with the way we approached the game last night. We created some good chances and played the ball around reasonably well. I was particularly pleased with how we reacted to going a goal down.

Also agree about Burnell, his touch, control and even his aerial presence has improved dramatically this season and he is proving to be more than just a goalscorer, even taking shots from outside the area too.

It's good to get some points on the board too for the first time in ages. Same again Saturday would be great. COYR!

Danny Burnell was superb. His best performance in a Slough shirt for me. Running and harassing for ninety minutes, a goal, an assist and great hold up play. Was a pleasure to watch.

At times it looked like it was one of those days and the goals wouldn't come - not helped by a couple of dubious offside calls but we stuck at the task well. Thought Burgess was excellent as well, time and again he was able to pick out excellent passes - he went off limping, hope that was just a precaution.

Three's dive was an absolute disgrace. One of the most embarassing things I've ever seen on the football pitch at this level. Nice poetic justice when he got sent off late on.

The defence once again looked pretty solid - their goal came from nothing. Sean Fraser is a real bundle of energy at right back and had another cracking game.

Need to make sure we concentrate on Saturday and secure back to back wins to start working our way back up the league. COYR

Unfortunately the attempts by Thatcham's number three to partner Tom Daley have apparently been unsuccessful. The bookies current favourite is Gareth Bale who dives better and more consistently than Thatcham's left back. Both resembling a chimp has no bearing on the selector's decision apparently.
