Margate 0 1 slough

I was unable to make it but a great result which will hopefully keep the forum trolls happy for a bit

On the contrary, Mark, I think it's results and performances like today why we do see such criticism on the forum. The players today were exceptional. The work rate from everyone was superb for 90+ minutes, the organisation was brilliant and the team never once lost its shape. I don't recall James actually having to make a meaningful save such was the effort of the whole team in closing them down and putting them under pressure.Yes they had chances but on the few occasions when they got sight of goal they snatched a shot, probably through frustration at getting so few opportunities.

Difficult to single out individuals but Dominic Rhone worked tirelessly on the left flank and Danny Burnell worked his backside off, taking his goal brilliantly. So.......if people wonder why sometimes there's criticism on here it's because we know the team is capable of performances and results like today. You've set the benchmark guys, now go and do that week in week out and everything else will take care of itself. REBELS!!!

only one crit about your guys today - why in the first half were they dropping like flies without being touched..... apart from that you guys deserved the result today..................... begrudgingly.. :(

Ian you are spot on. Its results like this that highlight the greatest failure of Batemans tenure He doesnt seem able to motivate teams into producing consistent results Our next 6 league games will be a test of this None of the teams are in the top 5 and 4 have a current position lower than ours We should be expecting to win them all if we are truly the favourites for the league.

We are currently not favourites for the league, Godalming are.

Agree with everything said so far, especially Ian's point about the players being capable of these performances, but don't always look up for it.

That certainly wasn't the case today though! Throughly deserved win where everyone dug deep and kept the higher league-leaders at bay.

going into the game all i wanted most of all was to see the team give it their all and make sure Margate had a really tough battle if they were to progress unlike what happened against Gosport. well it turns out we got exactly that and more. every single player worked their socks off for the team and we ended up with a superb deserved victory.

Danny Burnell produced the only real moment of composure in front of goal really of the whole match dispatching his chance ridiculously well.

made the 2 hour journey more than worth it and put a smile on the face of a lot of Slough fans

also how the hell was #6 the announced man of the match? absolutely ridiculous choice

The sponsors should announce that there is no man of the match on those ocassions where there clearly is not one otherwise it is a hollow gesture - some of us were expecting his number to be on the substitution boards quite early in the second half and Bodkin on but it didn't happen

Wasn't at the game so cannot comment on the performance but a fantastic result!

As Ian says, today is a reason why half the negative comments are made on the forum, it's pure frustration as on our day we are a match for most teams in non league football! The supporters who speak their minds give praise when it's due and not for the sake of it!

One swallow doesn't make a summer.

It's ironic that on the Margate forum, their supporters are ripping through the bones of their team's inept performance against lower opposition, with one fan describing Slough as a 'very mediocre side'.

It's like a role reversal of what we Slough fans witnessed in the FA Trophy last week.

I would like to praise the Slough team and management for defying the odds and getting a excellent result yesterday.

When the players and the management get it right,Slough can be a joy to watch.

Unfortunately,we don't get to see sublime passing football, that our players could play, week in week out, enough and this current squad seems to struggle to know what tactics to play from week to week.

Anyway,I don't want to end this on a negative after such a positive win.Well done Slough Town FC for restoring some much needed pride in the shirt and making us fans happy! Onward and upward.

And one even said we were Cr-p (I think we just stopped them from playing). But with them loosing 2 cup games on the trot and who should have been playing or not, there was no mention of sack the manager or player. That's were I think we go over board on.

NOT HAVING A GO AT ANYBODY just a point.
